Getting my nursery ready with Naturalmat
Finally, FINALLY, we are getting there.
Having moved out of our house for 4 months (thank you mum, for having us!) while we smashed up the downstairs for our side return extension… and then returning a few weeks ago to more dust than I have ever seen in my life (it gets everywhere)… then cleaning and cleaning and midwife visits and cleaning… our beautiful, bright, calm and peaceful nursery is finally starting to take shape.
Coco Mat by Naturalmat – it is the most breathable of their child natural fibre mattresses, made with organic coir (coconut fibre) for support and breathability, organic lambswool for softness and insulation, and the cotton mattress cover is treated with an OEKO-TEX® certified hypoallergenic treatment to protect against bed bugs, dust mites, mosquitos and moths. It’s hypoallergenic and anti-microbial – perfect for asthma and eczema sufferers…and chemical free, non-toxic and naturally fire retardant. IT IS A MAGIC MATTRESS
I always had in my mind the kind of room I wanted to create if I were ever lucky enough to have a small person come into my life. And when I knew for certain that my bump was REAL and not just doughnuts, I called my favourite baby sleep and nursery experts, Naturalmat.
If you haven’t heard of Naturalmat, and natural, handmade and organic products are important to you, then now is the time to hop over to their website or one of their showrooms, and fall in love with everything they do.
They have been handmaking the finest organic and natural mattresses in Devon for nearly 18 years. The natural fibres they use are breathable and cleverly self ventilating, which helps babies regulate their body temperature (meaning a more comfortable baby… so hopefully, more sleep).
All their materials are 100% natural and are from sustainable, Fair Trade sources. And I love that their wool comes from the sheep grazing in the fields just yards from their factory in Devon. THIS is the stuff that makes Naturalmat special and this is why I asked them to make me two of their Coco Mats. One mattress for my Leander baby bed and one for my Snuzpod.
Naturalmat offer a made to measure service – they will make you a mattress for any size cot or moses basket you have – you just need to send them a template and kaboom. Perfect fit.
All of Naturalmat’s organic mattresses are available in standard sizes and to fit many popular baby bed brands, including Snuzpod, Stokke, Leander, Chicco, Boori, IKEA, Bloom, Babybay or Mamas and Papas. Or, for a custom sized mattress, you can have one Made to Measure :)
The other amazing product that Naturalmat have recently launched is their pregnancy and feeding pillow!
The pillow handmade (obvs, it Naturalmat!) and is designed to help mums-to-be sleep comfortably on their side – and I can report much success. The pillow is filled with their signature Westcountry organic lambswool which is not only amazing at regulating body temperature for babies, but for adults too. The science is so clever – the fibres naturally keep heat and moisture away from the body when it’s warm and when it is cool, they keep the heat in. CLEVER.
The centre panel sits under my torso, the leg support goes between my legs and there is a bump support in the front and a back support at the back. Once our little one arrives, we can remove the back support and then use it as a feeding cushion.
So there you have it, Naturalmat are the gurus in all things baby and pregnancy and it’s such a pleasure to talk about them and share with you how utterly brilliant they are. Because they are that. Brilliant.
Founders Peter and Mark could not be more passionate about what they do and how they do it. Their mattresses are natural, organic, handmade and bespoke, chemical free, non-toxic, naturally fire retardant, hypoallergenic and anti-microbial…. you can find mohair, cashmere, bamboo, cotton and natural latex in their range… and… they make mattresses for grownups too! Their luxury beds can be found in hotels all over the world – you may remember me discovering that I had been sleeping on a Naturalmat mattress at The Scarlet in Cornwall last month…
Now all that’s missing is a small human.
And something tells me (mostly my calendar) that it won’t be long now…
Naturalmat kindly gifted me some of the above products
