Pretty Much Penniless

County fair, county fair, everybody in town'll be there.

Last October, Edward passed his driving test. Woo! Go Ed! We didn't have the money to buy a car, so instead a couple of our kind friends offered to let us borrow their second car at weekends if we paid for the added insurance. It's been the perfect deal- we don't need a car during the week as we both work in central London and it's given us so much freedom.
Over the last few weeks we've been able to do two car boot sales, getting rid of loads of excess junk and earning us nearly £300 for our travelling fund (more on this in another post) plus it's allowed us to have a few very wonderful days out.
This weekend, we spent the scorcher of a Sunday at the Essex Young Farmers County Fair near Chelmsford. Let me remind you, lest you forget- I'm neither from Essex, nor a farmer and sadly not that young anymore but it still sounded a lot of fun. Lot's of animals, a bit of a dodgy thing about hunting with some lovely foxhounds, alpacas, birds of prey and then the food! We took a packed lunch but still had ice creams from Farmer Bill's and wandered through the food tent drooling over the pies.
New Look kindly sent me the palm print dress as a part of their Throwback Dress campaign. We all have a dress we can't throw away, one that reminds us of good times. Mine is below- a vintage black and white tea dress in a Mary Quant style print, a terrible photo of it admittedly. Strangely, both the dress I chose and my favourite dress have a black and white print. I love print but often steer away from bright colours so monochrome is my go-to shade combo for peace of mind.
