Fall in Miami

It’s hot in Miami…and by hot, I mean it’s still pretty much summertime here. We’re seeing mid to high 80’s everyday with intense humidity so although the idea of skinny jeans and a nice chunky knit sweater seem super duper appealing, the chances of that happening anytime soon are slim to none. So, as many of my fellow fashionistas in Miami do, I improvise. To make fall fashion work in Miami you’ve got to be realistic about the heat and the humidity while keeping in mind that the rest of the country is feeling winter coming around the corner. The best way to balance those two worlds is to incorporate darker colors, less summery shoes (in this case, shooties) and change up the makeup a bit to give your face a little more than just a sun kissed glow.

I should mention that I used some new makeup for this post and I absolutely love it. For starters, let’s just say note that I’m not a wiz at makeup by any means. I’ll leave that to beauties like Ria Michelle and Kelly Saks. I’m more of an easy, lipgloss, eyeliner type of gal but when I received a goody bag from Alison Brod PR last week filled with products, I jumped in face first ;) These products were not only amazing…they’re easy to use!! Like seriously. Makeup for dummies (like me!). In these pictures I’m using the L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur foundation and blush which I went crazy for. They leave your face looking and feeling sooooo smooth. The eyes were a breeze and looked much more polished than what I normally do with the Urban Decay Naked2 palette. The quality of this eyeshadow is so much better than what I’m used to. It was so easy to apply, it stayed in place and it looked truly beautiful. These pictures didn’t capture it as well as I would have liked. And lastly, on the lips, I used what will definitely become my new favorite lipstick, the L’Oreal Extrodinaire by Colour Riche in purple prelude. The application is ridiculously easy, trust me on this one, and the color is rich and moist. It was the perfect “fall” touch to add to my makeup routine for the next couple months. This is not a sponsored review (even though they did gift me the items)…it’s just something I wanted to share because I really genuinely loved these specific products.
On a final note…I got these shooties/booties/heels from last week’s TargetStyle challenge and guys, listen up…they’re pretty much the perfect shootie for fall. Way to go, Tar-jay for bringing in the trends at such great prices! XOXO, Martha
