With summer coming to a close we’re putting away our sunscreen and bug spray, and instead picking up our textbooks (or going back to work). No need for despair though – it’s time to start planning for the next adventure. And we’ve got just the list for you to get started.

Here are 12 absolutely magical destinations around the world that everyone should witness in their lifetime.


1. Glowworm Caves, New Zealand

Since 1880 people have been memorized by the unique glowworm caves in Waitomo, New Zealand. During a 45 minute boat ride you can watch the millions of glowworms light up the cave. You can find these caves at the North Island of New Zealand’s main centre. Travelers from all around gather to witness the magic these worms have to offer.

2. Paro Taktsang, Bhutan

This temple, Paro Taktsang (Taktsang meaning Tiger’s eye), is located 900 meters above the valley. The hike up is filled with 2-3 hours of beautiful scenery through the forest, making the trip an adventure in itself. Travelers cannot get enough of this breathtaking view from the temple.

3. Avenue of Baobabs, Madagascar

Standing under these 800-year-old trees you can’t help but feel a little small, figuratively and literally. Sadly many of the baobabs are disappearing due to expansion but you can find these lot in the western region between Morondava and Belon’i Tsiribihina. Each tree is different and many are featured in folklore of the natives. Whatever you do wait until sunset, that’s when all the magic happens.

4. Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye, Scotland

The fairy pools are just as magical as they sound. Surrounded by beautiful crystal-clear waters and majestic mountains, it’s all anyone with wanderlust could want. The pools are located in Isle of Skye, Scotland and takes about a 40 minute hike, where you can take in some other impressive sights, to get there.

5. Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

The beautiful rock formations and caves of Ha Long Bay were created from years of wind and water irrigation. You can view these miracles of nature through a boat or on foot tour. Ha Long Bay is located in the northeast area of Vietnam in Gulf of Tonkin.

6. Zion Natural Park, Utah, USA

It isn’t necessary to travel overseas to see breathtaking sights. Zion Natural Park, Utah draws in travelers from all over the world to witness its beauty. There’s hiking for every skill level, skiing, canyoneering and good old fashion site seeing. It’s recommended to visit during autumn to witness the changing of the leaves, which is just magical.

7. ‘The Swing at the End of the World’ Banos, Ecuador

If you’re afraid of heights you may want to skip this one, but for those daredevils out there this is perfect. In Ecuadorian this swing is on the edge of a cliff and has the most breathtaking view of Mt. Tungurahua, an active volcano. It takes about a 3 hour hike to get to the tree house and swing, but it’s worth hovering over the end of the world.

8. Turquoise Ice, Lake Baikal, Russia

During the months of January to May Lake Baikal, one of the world’s largest freshwater lakes, becomes a winter wonderland of ice. It is famous for it’s perfectly clear ice that make for stunning pictures. During the month of May the ice turns a beautiful turquoise that you can’t believe until you see it yourself. Lake Baikal is located in southern Siberia so pack warm.

9. Giant’s Causeway, Ireland

This beautiful place was created with the help of volcanic activity hundreds of years ago. Thousands of black columns of rock emerge from the sea and create the most curious sight in northern Ireland. Paired with the natural beauty of Ireland itself, this is a most see.

10. Black Forest, Germany

One thing that Germany has plenty of is miles and miles of beautiful forests, the most famous being the Black Forest. You won’t be able to miss it because it stretches from the Rhine to Alpine in Switzerland. You’ll be overwhelmed by all the green and just how beautiful the mountains are. You’ll encounter the friendly hikers and some impressive wildlife. This place is so magical that it looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale.

11. Machu Picchu, Peru

This wonder is located in the Andes Mountains. For those extreme hikers you’ll be thrilled by the multi-day hike it takes to get to the top of this wonder. Don’t worry, those of you who aren’t too excited about that there’s shortcuts. Dating back to the 1400s you’ll wonder how they were able to create all this all the way up there. After soaking up all the beauty of the architecture you can explore the beauty of the jungles down under.

12. Enchanted River, Surigao, Philippines

About 30 minutes away from Hinatuan in Barangay Cambatong lays the Hinatuan River a.k.a. the Enchanted River. The waters are crystal clear and the marine life is simply stunning. It is a complete mystery where this water came from, but it has become one of the Philippines’ must-visit locations.
