Vanilla Cupcake Bakery

The Vanilla Cupcake Bakery is a fairly new cupcake shop in Glorietta 4. I first heard of the place from Jin‘s Instagram, then I got curious so my friend, Irene and I decided to have a look. Earlier that day we were hanging out with some of our friends. When Crissey left, the rest of us headed to Glorietta.

Overall, the place looks very feminine. Most of the seats are from Heima and Daphne. Some stations are decorated with Portmeirion cups and tea pots. It’s got a romantic cottage-y feel, a nice place to spend girly time with your friends. Although when we arrived, the place was packed and we had to wait to get seated. Apart from cupcakes, they also sell pasta and other desserts like panna cotta and cookies. I only brought a prime lens so most of the photos are just closeups. Read more to view the rest.

Jade and Keita’s pick: Pink Vanilla and Strawberry Oreo. The Strawberry Oreo one is great. You can taste the Oreo filling in the icing.

Mine and Irene’s: Salted Caramel Chocolate and Blue Vanilla. The vanilla one is a little too sweet, it’s not a flavor that I’d buy again. I stayed away from the red velvet because I heard from others that it’s not that good. Although the Salted Caramel one is really, really good. I’m not a fan of chocolate at all but I’m glad that I took the step to try this one. If you want my honest opinion, their cupcakes are alright though not as whoa! as what they’re raving. I find them a little heavy (couldn’t finish one, which I find hard to believe) and expensive.

The place has a nice ambiance and it’s cozy but when it gets packed, it seems to overshadow the purpose of the aesthetic. I felt so ambiguous while I was sitting there. The curtains and mid to low key lighting make you feel relaxed but there are so many people that it disturbs your current temperament. Their background music is Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin, Paula Cole, The Corrs, 90′s pop folk, songs that I love though It makes me feel really, really old, Dawnson’s Creek old. I’m not sure if it’s just me but I find it mildly uncomfortable listening to music from 1 same genre and 1 year cluster. It’s like a mix-tape your friend gave you in 1997.

There is much to say about the design of the place but I’ll keep this one until here. Nonetheless, try visiting the shop and tell me how it goes!
