A day in the life…

I often times get asked what a typical day around here looks like, so I thought I’d share a fun play by play with you and maybe see if I can seek out some advice from designers out there about how to decorate my office space. It’s part of a work/play sunroom space for myself and my kids and it’s in a small corner of the room. Working from home has many perks, one being that I can work while they play, although that is a rarity as we have a sitter who helps us during the week. But in all honesty, I love to work in the same space as they play even though I have someone helping me keep them busy. I’m all about hiring help if it is for the betterment of your brand and business. But seriously, I need to find some time to get some decor up on my bare walls.

7am – my alarm goes off, I hit snooze. doesn’t everyone?!

7:03am – I roll over, grab my phone and do a quick check of my email to make sure there’s nothing urgent I need to respond to before getting the kids up for school. I’m not a morning person so this gives me a few quiet minutes to wake up for the day.

7:10am – wake up the kids for school.

7:10 – 7:45am – make breakfast, who am I kidding, pour them cereal, pack snacks and lunches, get kids dressed and ready for school.

7:45am -pull out of the garage and head to school.

8am – Our babysitter arrives. She’s amazing!! On Tuesdays and Thursdays when Brayden isn’t in school she keeps an eye on him while I work and then on the days he is in school, she helps clean the house.

8:15am – 9am – send emails, work on blog or Pollinate business.

9am – 10am – take a work break and go to Bootcamp or Yoga

10 am – 11:55am – work, work, work. This consists of calls, proposals, contracts, checking in with our team, starting blog posts.

12 – 12:45pm – pick up the kids from school.

12:45 – 4pm – work on Pollinate and blog business. One day a week Kyle and I have a business lunch to get out of the house and be able to talk through business over good food.

4pm – our sitter leaves and I usually have about 15 minutes to “relax” before the kids get up from their rest time. Yes, they have mandatory rest time/nap time still.

4pm – 5pm – kids play outside or in playroom while I take pictures for the blog. Our backyard and front yard have the perfect lighting during this time during the winter.

5- 6pm – time to get dinner ready. Usually the kids help me, or color at the table while I cook. side note, while I do try and cook dinner every night, the reality is that I’m human and some days i’m too tired, so we will order in Thai food or pick up Chipotle. We try to keep it as healthy as possible.

6pm – family dinner. This is so important to us! It’s a time for us to talk about the kids days, school, they will share about all the project they are working on at school or new letters they are learning. They also love to tell us the Bible story they’re learning that week.

7pm – bath time, pj’s, brush teeth then SNUGGLE TIME! This is my most favorite time of the day. We snuggle, read, have tickle fests. There are some nights I’m in tears laughing so hard!

8pm – prayers and bedtime. We do our best to stay consistent with this, especially during the weekdays. Most nights I snuggle with Brayden in bed till he falls asleep.

8pm – 11pm (sometimes midnight) – Kyle and I connect on how our day was. While we run the business together, we work on different aspects of it, so it’s great to check in at the end of the day. We also use this time to finish up work we have or I’ll sometimes put a blog post together while we watch tv.

11pm – bedtime!

Phew y’all, that’s my day. I’d love to hear how you spend your days! What’s your favorite part of your day?

xo, Alissa
