Looking Back At My 2014

I truly can’t believe just how fast the year has gone. It only seems like a few months ago that I was writing my 2013 review and looking back on the year, so to be doing it again for 2014 already, it seems crazy! I have no idea where the time goes these days!

What can I say about 2014 though? It truly has been an incredible year for me! It’s one where I feel like I have truly become myself, accepted myself more and become a stronger person. One where I have felt strengths that I didn’t know I had, one in which I have come to a few realisations and truths about things in life and also one where I took my health into my hands properly and turned things around, working on my healthy eating more and fitness routine too. So things in 2014 really sort of came together for me and have gone well!

In terms of blogging, I thought it might be a good idea to do a recap of 2014 with my best outfit photos from January to now and also include some photos of times that stood out for me. These are followed by a paragraph for each month, outlining how everything went. I haven’t done this type of post before, so I hope you like it! I truly wish you an amazing 2015 and my next post will be about my plans for the new year! Warning though, this is a big, image heavy post!

January

January for me was a time where I had just coasted along really. I had similar outfits and style to the months before and even though I had decided that 2014 was going to be a great year for me, I hadn’t really put anything into place just yet. I think I was planning and thinking a lot, while trying to shoot outfit photos in the grim Winter weather. I actually love some of these looks though, a couple of them are still some of my favourites to date!

February

February featured Valentine’s Day and the beginning of change for me. I had some cool brands to work with and shoot outfits for and I felt like it was a time where I was starting to push my boundaries just a little more in terms of fashion. I really love some of these looks as they showcased a lot of my feminine side too!

March

March truly saw me change actually. That photo of me in the park with my yellow coat on my shoulders is always a reminder to me of how things changed. I actually changed up my blogs layout and made things more structured, I increased my image sizes too and my style became more tailored and structured. I really put more effort into it and Adam and I learned truly how to shoot better photos, using the manual mode as well. It also was the time I styled the Deichman shoes!

April

Again with April, I truly notice how much my style had changed. I love some of these outfits with all my heart and I love how the quality of the shoots changed so much. We really spent a lot of time learning how to use the camera and for me, using Photoshop, so it’s helped a huge amount! I feel like it gave me a confidence that I didn’t have before. Plus, it was the month I shot my Easter Bunny outfit and Adam and I spent our 6 year anniversary in London, for a little holiday. Visiting the sights, museums and more!

May

May was when I styled the red Fever dress in different ways, which I had a huge amount of fun with. I did take a little more of a casual approach to my looks here though as the weather started warming up and I remember the feeling I felt in the park in that photo just above. Being so relaxed, so comfortable and just really enjoying my life right at the moment. I was becoming more comfortable with myself and I remember I had lost a little bit of weight too because I had started reading the Cameron Diaz book and fitting into smaller clothes as I had become a lot more healthier.

June

June was a fun and busy time! I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with Sky Rainforest, along with Lily Cole and Gary Neville, helping to save the rainforest with the campaign. I took a much needed trip to the beach with Adam and remember the feelings of happiness and joy being there, but not enjoying the amount of wind in my light sun dress. I also worked with New Look and it was the time where I had first started wearing denim overalls, styling them in a more structured way. June was a great month for me, I really felt at ease and relaxed, plus I was shortlisted by Company Magazine in their fashion bloggers awards for best blog design.

July

July was another amazing month! Adam and I went on holiday again to London, doing lots of shopping, however I remember it being so hot for England, it went over 30 C and it was insane! I was so hot! We had a great time though! We then attended the Paige x Rosie Huntington-Whiteley event in Selfridges, which was fun as I got to see Paige again and see Rosie. It was also the time where I shot my first lingerie photos with Ultimo, doing a classy black and white shoot for their new underwear set. I also kept on pushing my boundaries with clothes and tried different styles, including a 4th of July inspired look!

August

August saw me celebrate my 26th birthday, which I truly enjoyed and was overwhelmed by kindness. It’s so strange to think that I’m 26 now, I know age is but a number, but it really is going fast! I also shot a new lingerie set, this time for Ann Summers, but we shot those in a more girly and whimsical way. I also ended up on the Style Fruits Fashion Bloggers playing cards which was amazing! I remember being in the park though with the sunflowers and really loving that evening, it was so warm and just truly magical! I loved August!

September

September was a great month for my fashion again. It had gotten a little cooler so I could wear more clothing, but I experimented more with leopard print, faux leather, triple denim and 50’s inspired looks. One of my favourite photos is the one of me spinning in the burgundy skirt, I love that one! I see September also as a turning point for me, I took my fitness into my hands so much more and was really working on getting healthy!

October

October was a crazy month! My hair had gotten so long and was really out of shape, but I kind of loved how wild it looked. I actually think these photos show me in a much more grown up light with the longer hair, but I did since get it cut. I am thinking of growing my fringe out again though! I also dressed up properly for Halloween, wearing a gorgeous Tinkerbell costume in the woods! Plus, I attended the DUO Boots blogger event, which was fantastic!

November

November I worked with Sweaty Betty to show my workout routine and fitness clothes, I styled the Buffalo wrap around coat with Look Again for a blogger contest and thanks to your votes, I won! That was a great feeling, so thank you! I also got to work with Bench and Tipsy Elves, modelling one of their gorgeous Christmas jumpers (you know I have a weakness for them!). It was also the first time that I had worn a cape properly, I love this one from Topshop!

December

Finally, it brings me to this month of December! My general feeling now is still full of self confidence as negativity doesn’t bother me anymore (despite receiving a lot of negativity weekly) and an enthusiasm for life that I didn’t really have before. I went to London again a couple of weeks ago to spend an early Christmas with Adam there, plus enjoy a lot of shopping and just alone time together. I dressed up as Mrs. Santa for my Christmas costume, I worked with Rare Opulence, modelling their gorgeous beaded and lace dress, I had fun with another Christmas jumper and finally, I purchased an All Saints coat that I am addicted to! I’ve never had one fit me so well! I’ve had a truly wonderful Christmas and I’m enjoying spending a lot of time with Adam and family, but I’m truly looking forward to what’s to come! I have some exciting things to share with you in 2015 and I can’t wait!

– So, as things go, 2014 has been amazing for me as a person. I’ve really come into my own, I’ve experimented more with my style and developed a more structured, classic and easy sense of fashion, choosing more tailored pieces, mixed in with fun and bold pieces too! But most of all, I’m happy. Looking back on 2014 makes me smile and I have so many good memories to hold onto. So many times previously I used to be negative, I would look for the bad things instead of the good, I would focus on the things that annoyed me rather than the things that made me happy and now, I truly see that was an error in my judgement as it was bringing me down, like I was carrying a whole load of negativity with me all the time, ruining anything I was doing. Now I feel a lot more free, easy going and open to things rather than shutting them out and I couldn’t be happier! So, here’s to 2015! Lorna xx.
