A DIFFERENT KIND OF REUNION (A Gilda Greco Mystery ) by Joanne Guidoccio is on book tour with Great Escape Virtual Book Tours and stops at Readeropolis with an author interview.

Author Interview

Who is your favorite character from your book and why? I identify strongly with Gilda Greco, the protagonist of the series. Gilda is 70 percent of me. As to how I came up with that particular number, let’s just say my well-honed left brain did all the work. Our similarities...Italian Canadian, born and raised in Sudbury, relocated to Southern Ontario, mathematics teachers, career development practitioners, non-foodies, yoga enthusiasts. One major difference - Gilda won a $19 million lottery. I’m hoping that writing in the first-person will help me manifest my own win.
How about your least favorite character? What makes them less appealing to you? A difficult question to answer! In this particular novel, I even have a soft spot for the murderer. Pressed to name a character, I would point to Stuart McHenry, father of the victim. While I could sympathize with his loss, I didn’t care for how quick he was to classify his daughter’s death as suicide.
Give us an interesting fun fact or a few about your book or series: In each book of the Gilda Greco series, I have included a sub-plot involving Maria Rossi and Rosa Geraldi – her godmother and godmother’s sister. In addition to providing comedic relief, these ladies frustrate Gilda’s investigative efforts. In A Different Kind of Reunion, they show up at a Holistic Fair and share their impressions of psychics with Gilda.
Here’s a short excerpt: Maris chuckled as she glanced around the hall. “They’re fakes, all of them, even Cassandra.” “Maria!” This was not an appropriate conversation to be having at a holistic fair where dozens of psychics had congregated. “She’s right,” Rosa said, waving her hand around the hall. “We stopped to see three of them. All they talk about are their epiphanies and how they can help us. They want to charge eighty dollars for thirty minutes. Who would pay that kind of money?” Maria nodded. “Those old witches in Italy, especially the ones in Sicily, have all the powers. None of these psychics comes close. Not even Cassandra. She’s too young and too pretty. You need to be old and ugly to have real powers.”
Do you have any unique talents or hobbies? While writing occupies the lion’s share of my time, I also enjoy reading, yoga, scrapbooking, blogging, movies, artist dates, and meeting friends for leisurely brunches and lunches.
How can we contact you or find out more about your books? I have a Twitter account and a Facebook profile. You can also find me on LinkedIn, Goodreads, and Pinterest, or you can get in touch via the Contact Form on my website. Feel free to connect – I’d love to hear from you.
What can we expect from you in the future? On the back burner, I have four books in different stages of completion, and ideas are percolating for at least three more. My goal – To release one book each year. For how long? As long as I continue to be inspired.
Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published? Stay positive and keep writing. It’s so easy to give up after a few (or more) rejections. Instead, start the next book in the series or write shorter pieces for newspapers, magazines, and online publications. If you’re experiencing a prolonged writer’s block, treat yourself to an artist date or attend readings and lectures.
Is there anything else you’d like to say? Readers, Thank you for your encouragement and support over the past ten years. I appreciate your reviews, blog comments, likes and follows on social media, and congratulatory emails and phone calls. You have been wonderful companions on my writing journey.

While not usually a big deal, one overlooked email would haunt teacher Gilda Greco. Had she read it, former student Sarah McHenry might still be alive.
Suspecting foul play, Constable Leo Mulligan plays on Gilda’s guilt and persuades her to participate in a séance facilitated by one of Canada’s best-known psychics. Six former students also agree to participate. At first cooperative and willing, their camaraderie is short-lived as old grudges and rivalries emerge. The séance is a bust.
Determined to solve Sarah’s murder, Gilda launches her own investigation and uncovers shocking revelations that could put several lives—including her own—in danger. Can Gilda and the psychic solve this case before the killer strikes again?
