My blog birthday present: a publication in Vanity Fair!

One evening in July I received an email with the subject “Request from Vanity Fair, please”. Half-expecting this to be a joke, I read it and felt my jaw drop. The magazine was requesting my authorization to publish a picture from my blog in their September issue’s Cult Favorites section. Of course I said yes and one month later, ta-da! My little picture from my post on the Elizabeth Taylor collection at Christie’s is here in the glossy magazine. It’s also on the Vanity Fair website.

The picture is tiny and you kind of have to pull on the page to see my name in the credits but hey, I get to say my work has been published in Vanity Fair ;-) I never expected this to happen, let alone in such a major publication, so this is a wonderful surprise.

And what a great timing for my 3^rd blog birthday today! Thank you for your support, for reading my articles and leaving your thoughts in the comments. It’s always a pleasure to share with you my finds and musings from Paris.

To celebrate both events, I treated myself to a birthday cake, a big fat Pierre Hermé Arabesque macaron eaten in the Jardin des Tuileries with the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Très bon!

I’ll be on a little blog break next week as I’ll be spending a couple of days in London for my own birthday (yes, my blog was my birthday present to myself 3 years ago). But you can follow my adventures on Instagram. On the program I have meetings with dear friends from the blogosphere, afternoon tea in a posh hotel and a ballet at the Royal Opera House. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate!

Un soir en juillet j’ai reçu un email avec pour objet “Request from Vanity Fair, please”. M’attendant à une blague, je l’ai lu et quelle surprise ! L’équipe basée à New York me demandait l’autorisation de publier une photo de mon blog dans leur édition de septembre pour leur partie « Cult Favorites ». Bien sûr j’ai dit oui et un mois plus tard, ta-da ! Ma photo tirée de l’article sur la collection Elizabeth Taylor chez Christie’s est bien là dans le magazine, et aussi sur son site Internet.

La photo est toute petite et il faut un peu tirer sur la page pour voir mon nom dans les crédits, mais bon, au moins je peux dire que mon œuvre a été publiée dans Vanity Fair ;-) Cette surprise tombe à pic pour les 3 ans de mon blog que je fête aujourd’hui. Merci beaucoup pour votre lecture et vos commentaires ! C’est toujours un plaisir pour moi de partager avec vous mes trouvailles et pensées de Paris. Pour célébrer ces deux événements, je me suis offert un gâteau d’anniversaire sous la forme d’un gros macaron Arabesque de Pierre Hermé, dégusté dans le Jardin des Tuileries avec la Tour Eiffel au loin. Très bon !

Mon blog sera en vacances la semaine prochaine comme je pars quelques jours à Londres pour mon propre anniversaire (eh oui, mon blog était mon cadeau à moi-même il y a 3 ans). Mais vous pouvez suivre mes aventures sur Instagram. Au programme, des rencontres avec des amies de la blogosphère, un afternoon tea dans un hôtel raffiné et un ballet au Royal Opera House.
