#240. Friday Fitness - Goals update post honeymoon

From a week before the wedding all my health and fitness goals went completely out of the window. With the wedding drawing closer, there were so many things to do and people to catch up with that I often just grabbed what I could on the go, mainly chocolate for energy, that it was hard to watch what I was eating and plan my meals. My good intentions of exercise that week also was a non starter, making me feel so lazy, but my head was filled with other things that I soon forgot about it. Cue a big sigh of relief when my dress still fitted perfectly on the big day, as I had been having horrible nightmares about it. Honeymoon was fairly inactive, apart from a few walks along the beach and swims in our pool, which combined with the amazing food (hello three course meals, pasta and fish!) and extensive cocktail list (which we slowly but surely worked our way through obvs), did not do wonders for my waistline and I could definately feel my tummy getting squishier as the weeks went on - hello buddha belly. Honeymoon is not a time for good health and fitness decisions though, we were on holiday, relaxing and enjoying drinking prosecco by the pool. You only honeymoon once.
Now we are back, I have been trying to ease myself back into my health and fitness goals, as I was really enjoying it. It has been hard trying to pick things back up again, I'm not going to lie. The first week back after honeymoon was really tough. We arrived home at 5pm on the Monday evening and hit the ground running, straight back into work on the Tuesday morning. A combination of extreme tiredness, post honeymoon blues and bad honeymoon habits meant that week was still lax on any thoughts towards health and fitness and quick and fast meals I could grab on the way home were on the cards, as we hadn't had time to do a big shop and plan - hello pizza and Indian takeaway! One night I slept from 6.30pm to 7.30am, which is a cheek given that the time difference is only 2 hours between here and Zanzibar. We were traveling for 24 hours to get home though with all the stopovers and delays, so travelling obviously took a lot out of me. All that combined meant that during our first week back I just wasn't feeling it and that's ok. Unfortunately though, not thinking about what I am eating results in a sluggish Li and a very unhappy tum, that is so bloated and sore. Rubbish. I've not quite worked out yet what causes it, but I only know that my tummy is a lot happier when I make healthier choices and that can only be a good thing.

The past two weeks have been a lot better and I am starting up my good habits again. We have done two big food shops and planned our meals for the week which makes eating healthier so much easier and my pre-order copy of Tone it Up's Fit, Fab and Fierce arrived for inspiration. I am feeling a lot more in control of my eating habits again, although I have such a sweet tooth but have been having a lot of greek yogurt to help with that. I have been a bit of a yogurt fiend over the past two weeks, it's just so darn tasty!
Exercise wise, Robin and I are trying to do more stuff together to motivate one another and help us on the way to our fitness goals. I love my Tone it Up workouts and am keen to get back to those, but Robin feels they are too girly, so we have started Insanity (big gulp!) together in the mornings before work which is going well. It's nice to be up and about first thing and make more of my mornings and it is a big motivator working out together. Insanity is hard though, really hard, insanely hard some might say and I struggle to do all the moves, like those people on the video are completely machines, they can't be fully human. I am so minging and sweaty after a workout, but hopefully I'll start to feel myself getting better and stronger soon. I also treated myself to a brand new sexy pair of trainers in the Run For It sale - no excuse now!

My awesome new kicks!
I hope I can keep the healthy eating and exercise up. I was seeing big changes before the wedding and was feeling so much more happy and confident in myself. I need to make sure I keep motivated, especially now I don't have a big event to work towards...this will be a test, but is all part of the longer term fitness goal. I want to see the tone I was starting to develop come back, shift the little honeymoon buddha belly and get my confidence back up. Bring it on!
Do you have any health and fitness goals? How are they going?
