Perspective.

The other night I was hanging out with Matt and he asked me if I wanted to watch a movie and I said “No, I have to write a post”. He responded “You don’t have to, you want to”. I then realized that no, I didn’t want to write one right anything right then. So I didn’t and we watched a movie (sorry for those of you that love WTF…I will make it up to you).

I love to be busy. I volunteer with two organizations. I workout. I have a full time job. Plus sometimes I do part time work on top of that. I travel A LOT. I write this silly blog. I have friends. I have a house that doesn’t clean itself as much as I wish it would. I have a husband that likes to hang out with me.

As much as I enjoy juggling each and every one of these things, sometimes I drop a ball (or 2 or 3). And that’s cool. With the exception of clean the house, everything I do on a daily basis, I do because I choose to do it. But sometimes I forget this and fall into the trap of looking at these things as obligations rather than choices.

It is easy to think “Ugh I have to go to work today” but in reality I get to go to work. I have a job that I enjoy (98% of the time…because, let’s be honest, everyone hates their job on Monday morning) when so many people are not so lucky. It’s all about perspective.

So take a minute to look at the things that you choose to do. If it doesn’t make you happy, then why are you doing it? Make happy choices.

What are you choosing to do today?
