"Fractured Churn Dash": Blogger's Quilt Festival submission, ROYGBIV category

I thought I would go for it with one of my most recent rainbow quilts, and enter it into the Blogger's Quilt Festival (ROYGBIV category).

Fractured Churn Dash: Michael Miller Spring Cotton Couture Challenge quilt (Quiltcon challenge submission)

The rules for submitting for this challenge was that the Spring Cotton Couture colors had to be dominantly used in the quilt; the front of the quilt had to be only MM solids (the binding and backing could be Michael Miller prints).

I decided to work with the Churn Dash block, and try to put a modern spin on it. It is most definitely my favorite classic / traditional quilt block and I had an absolute blast putting my modern touch on it.

The outer borders of each churn dash in the quilt are the Spring Couture colors; the centers contain various Cotton Couture colors, in a gradation of shades from dark to light, top to bottom:
I also included shades of black and greys bordering a few of the blocks, accentuating the angles of the quilt. I also quilted the quilt with a simple, 1" spaced, diagonal line pattern.

I had a lot of fun with this quilt - it is now with its rightful owner, my mom, laying out on her bed up in beautiful Penticton BC.

Please head over {here} to vote starting May 22 on your favorite Blogger's quilts in all the different categories! Have a ton of fun, there are always so many talented Bloggers linking up!

A special thank-you to Amy of Amy's Creative Side for hosting the annual Blogger's Quilt Festival!
