long dresses are for mommies!

And today’s post is dedicated to the wonderful world of maternity :) So far, it seems that I didn’t shop as many maternity clothes as I thought but this is about to change because I realize that I have two options right now: A) Look for some pretty basics for the summer such as shorts, skirts… or B) I can try to live in the two shorts I still fit in until the baby girl arrives… That’s not pretty appealing! Regarding to maternity clothes, I don’t know in other countries but here in Spain we barely have options and after reading a lot of opinions among moms-to-be, they conclude that the investment is not worth. That surprises me a lot and honestly, I don’t know how they do it because I could not live without those clothes that I already bought! Of course, all the opinions are equally acceptable, but for me it’s still important to look pretty and feel good with myself even if I am pregnant. I’m not one of those who thinks that if you are pregnant, you can only wear maternity clothes, but the investment totally worths each penny. Needless to mention that the clothes are not as pretty as the new collections and some times it’s even complicated to find cute pieces, but if you are looking for some basics, you will not have any problem! If we think about this twice, we are going to wear these clothes for at least 4 months while we have the baby bump, and during the month after the born… So, we have to avoid to “get crazy” buying a lot of clothes, but explore our wardrobe and make a list of the new items in which we should have to invest. Anyway! I’m working on a maternity shopping guide where I will tell you which are the must-have that can not be missed :)

On the other hand, we have also clothes which are thought in order to make breastfeeding easier. To be totally honest with you, I didn’t even think about it because I thought that I have plenty of pieces which I can wear during that months but… I think I’m maybe wrong! So, now that the baby bump is so big and it’w growing so quick, I’m paying attention to nursing clothes like dresses because they will be the most comfortable and chilly pieces I could wear and I do love this one from The Mommy Company :) It’s so beautiful and even though it’s thought for the nursing, it’s not exclusive so I can wear now, then when the girl arrives and also in the future! El post de hoy va dedicado a este mundo maravilloso de la maternidad en cierto modo :) Al final, no me he comprado tanto ropa de premamá como pensé que haría hasta hace poquito, cuando me he dado cuenta que, o me compro algunas prendas, o estoy destinada en vivir con 2 shorts de aquí a que nazca la bebé! En cuanto a la ropa de premamá, he leído gran variedad de opiniones y he visto que muchas mujeres coinciden en que no merece la pena comprar ropa de premamá… La verdad es que me sorprende porque no se cómo lo harán, yo no sé que hubiese sido de mi sin esas pocas prendas que hasta la fecha me he comprado! Por supuesto, cada una invierte el dinero en lo que quiere, pero para mi es importante seguir viéndome bien aun estando embarazada y aunque no soy de las que piensa que estando embarazada haya que usar sólo prendas premamá, sí que os digo que esa inversión merece la pena aunque sólo sea por lo bien que nos vemos con ellas y porque son prendas infinitamente más cómodas que cualquiera de las que tengáis en vuestro armario. Cierto es que no toda la ropa es ideal y a veces cuesta encontrar ropa bonita (aunque por las opiniones y lo que te dicen algunas, piensas que va a ser misión imposible siquiera encontrar algo!), pero en cuanto a básicos no vais a tener problemas. Si lo pensamos bien, a esas prendas le vamos a dar uso durante al menos 4 meses mientras tengamos la barriga, pero también después de dar a luz, que del hospital no salimos con el vientre plano… De modo que, no hay que comprar a la locura, pero si analizar qué piezas son indispensables e invertir en ellas. Por cierto! Haré una guía de shopping para embarazadas donde os contaré cuáles son mis básicos imprescindibles :)

Por otro lado, están las prendas pensadas para la lactancia. Voy a ser sincera con vosotras y admitir que es algo a lo que no le he dado nada de importancia porque pensaba que no tendría tantos problemas con la ropa que ya tengo (pensando en mi armario normal) pero… ¡Puede ser -y seguramente es- que me he pasado de lista! Por eso, ahora que me ha crecido mucho la barriga (me da miedo!) y que algunas prendas que me estaban salvando la vida ya no me entran o me resultan incómodas, me estoy fijando sobre todo en vestidos (aptos para la lactancia), que es lo más cómodo y fresquito ya que a mi me pilla en pleno verano, y este de The Mommy Company no puede gustarme más :) Además, aunque está pensado para las mamás no es exclusivo, así que le daré uso ahora, cuando nazca la bebé y más adelante también! Ya sabéis que adoro los vestidos largos y si estáis buscando algunos de premamá y bonitos, tenéis que echarle un ojo a esta tienda ;)
