A Contemporary Barcelona Neighborhood Hotel – “Brummell”

One of the busiest hotel markets in Europe, Barcelona certainly isn’t short of places to stay, from the towering hotels of the Port Olímpic to more unusual independents. Sitting in the latter category, the newest addition to the scene takes guests out of the busy centre for a more relaxed experience in Poble-Sec. Located in a quiet neighborhood of the Sants-Montjuïc district, the “intimate, imaginative and adaptable” Hotel Brummell takes over an 1870s building remodelled by architect Inma Rábano and the Australian born, Barcelona-based duo, Blankslate. Inspired by Sri Lanka, the interiors, described as “tropical modernism,” feel decidedly contemporary. 20 uncluttered rooms and numerous communal areas are filled with clean, minimal custom furniture; a cool and calm palette of grey, blue and white providing the perfect backdrop for work from local artists.
