Back-to-School: Edelweiss Backpack

Today’s pattern is the Edelweiss Backpack, which is great for either a child or an adult! You can see my original blog post about this pattern here, complete with all of the tester bags (I’m carrying this bag in the original blog post, so you can see what it looks like on an adult). Perfect for back-to-school!

You can receive 20% off all school-related patterns in my shop using coupon code backtoschool (this includes the Peas and Corn Lunch Bags, Edelweiss Backpack, Promise Ring Backpack, and Creative Maker Supply Cases). Use any of these patterns to sew a bag and enter it into my sewing contest, which will close on September 15th (plenty of time to get your sew on!). More details on that next week.

This bag was made using a new line of fabric from Robert Kaufman by Suzy Ultman called Message in a Bottle. These fabrics just came out and are available at Fabric Worm and your local quilt shop.

This bag was made by Crystal Chadwick and she used essex linen in Indigo to compliment the Message in a bottle fabrics. So cute and modern made up this way!

The Pellon interfacings used to make this bag were the Flex Foam and Shape Flex. The foam in particular gives the backpack a sturdy shaping.

The front of the bag features a flap that secures with a magnetic snap, and two front pockets give storage space for small items. A top zipper secures all of the items, and the lining also has a zippered pocket.

This is a great pattern to whip up for your favorite child (or for yourself)! Don’t forget to use coupon code backtoschool to purchase the Edelweiss Backpack now!
