21 Days of Yoga: Yoga Clothing and Mats

Our 21 Days of Yoga has finally come to a end. It has been SO MUCH FUN getting on my mat with you all, hearing your stories, and seeing your pictures on Instagram! Continuing, I am hoping to to release one video practice a month. So keep checking back!

For the last day of 21 Days of Yoga, I thought I would share some of my favorite yoga clothes and mats with you.
First, yoga clothes. To have a comfortable practice, it is best to wear clothing that is not too baggy, or could get in your way during your practice. There aren't really any rules when it comes to yoga clothing. Personally, I am a huge fan of yoga pants on and off my mat. But, I have been known to roll out of bed in my pajamas onto my mat more than a few times. So, feel free to play around with what works and suits you best!
Here are some of my favorites:
Dressing in layers is a good idea for your yoga practice, due to the fact that your body will warm up during your practice and you can shed an outer layer during the warmest time of your practice, and then put it back on during savasana, or final resting pose. My current favorite yoga cardigan is my Warrior Bamboo Yoga Wrap Top from Conscious Clothing. I adore it. Conscious Clothing has a whole new warrior line that is beautiful that could be worn off your mat, as well.

And as a side note, these Organic Warrior Leggings are beautiful to wear with a regular outfit. They are so beautiful and comfortable.

Tanks are my go-to for yoga tops. Here are some of my favorites:
She Is Clothing
Live Love tank from Holy Yoga Shop
Yoga pants are a personal preference. A while back, I talked a little bit about my personal yoga pants style here. Although, since writing that posts I have decided to buy my yoga pants from other places than Lululemon, due to some of the unfortunate projections they have put out that I don't feel are edifying to good body image.
The biggest thing with yoga pants, regardless if you prefer a more legging style, or a boot cut, or a wide legged yoga pant is that you feel comfortable to move in them, without fear of them stretching thin where they become "see through". Trust me, you don't want the horrific experience of going into a yoga class, bending over to do an inversion, and discovering your leggings are not thick enough to cover appropriate areas. Not that that has ever happened to me, or anything (EMBARRASSING!).
Now, let's talk yoga mats.
Right now I am practicing on The Mat by Lululemon. Once again, while I love my mat, I'm not a fan of their ethics, so I probably will not be purchasing from them again until they make some changes in their company. Manduka is another favorite mat of mine, and while I only own their travel mat right now, I plan on purchasing a pro mat from them in the future.

When I am looking for new mat, I look for two things: durability (because I will spend hours upon hours on my mat) and good traction and texture (so my hands don't slip). If you are just getting started out, do not feel like you have to get a super spendy mat quite yet. Go to class and try the instructor and other students mats out, and look for mats at discount stores like TJ Maxx to find out what suits you best. You will find what fits your practice best.
I hope that helps, friends! It has been WONDERFUL practicing with you these last 21 days. Keep worshiping Jesus on your mat. Love.
