Happy National Crayon Day!
Guess what today is? If you read the subject line you’ll know that today is National Crayon Day.
I have always loved to color and draw with crayons. I loved receiving brand new boxes of crayons with the perfectly pointed tips and all the paper wrap intact.
I may be an adult but I still enjoy coloring. In fact my husband and I both color. We find it very relaxing.
It’s an ongoing tradition that I buy my husband a new box of crayons (64 count) with the sharpener in the back for Christmas.
There are plenty of crayons on the market, but for me, nothing compares to Crayola crayons.
In honor of National Crayon Day (March 31, 2015) here are some fun crayon facts, courtesy of Crayola.

Here are some interesting historical facts about the world’s most popular crayon brand, Crayola.
1903 – The Crayola brand is born
The Crayola name was coined by Alice Binney, wife of company founder Edwin and former school teacher. It comes from “craie,” the French word for “chalk” and “ola,” for “oleaginous,” or “oily.”
1958 – Name Change
Prussian blue, the first Crayola crayon color to get a name, becomes “midnight blue.” Teachers prompted the change, as children could no longer relate to the Prussian history.
1962 – Melting Pot
The company renames the flesh crayon “peach” to recognize that not everyone’s skin color is the same.
1990 – Eight Hues and a Cry
For the first time in Crayola history eight colors are retired. Maize, lemon, yellow, blue gray, raw umber, green blue, orange red, orange yellow and violet blue are enshrined in the Crayola Hall of Fame.
1999 – What’s in a Name
For only the third time in Crayola history a crayon is renamed. Indian Red becomes “chestnut.”
In honor of this day Crayola sent me a delightful package of Crayola products. Crayola has come a long way since it’s original box of crayons. Now you can find coloring pads, window crayons, markers, glitter glue and so much more.
Crayola sent me goodies in an adorable Crayola crayon box. It looks like a giant box of crayons.
Which is the REAL box of crayons? LOL!
In addition I received the cutest COOKIE made to resemble the iconic box of crayons. This is just so cute, I don’t think I could eat it.
The box contained a large box of crayons, an 8-pack of crayons, Disney’s Frozen Coloring Pages, Marvel’s Avengers Color and Stick and really cool looking Window Crayons that can be used on windows, car windows and mirrors.
I’m keeping the large box of crayons for me and my hubby. I am also keeping the Window Crayons because I want to use them to decorate our sliding glass door for holidays and seasons.
I am bringing the other products to work with me to share with the kids. They are going to go crazy for the Frozen coloring pages. I also know that the boys will love the Avengers coloring pages too.
