How do you plan to #BeActiv in 2015?

We are well into the new year. Have you stuck with your New Year’s resolutions, or have you already veered off track?

I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions. I have found in the past that I tend not to stick with resolutions. Instead I like to set small, obtainable goals for myself that I’d like to accomplish by the end of the year.

One of my goals is to be more active.

I have to admit that I DON’T like to exercise. It’s never been my “thing.” My exercise is mostly taking the dog for a walk, and even then I wish I was doing something else less physical.

I’m very out of shape and even the littlest form of exercise wears me out.

For years my husband and I have talked about buying bikes for the entire family (currently only our son has a bike), as well as roller blades so that our entire family can go on long bike rides on the weekends during the warmer weather months, as well as go to the local parks and do some roller blading.

One of my goals for 2015 is to get in shape enough to go bike riding without getting winded and tired. My goal is to be able to bike around the lake at a local park (3 miles) with my family.

I’d also like to learn how to roller blade. It looks like a lot of fun. I used to roller skate when I was young, so I should be able to learn how to roller blade easily enough (I hope so!).

Another thing I want to do this year is accomplish the things on my “To Do” list that I have been putting off including a complete physical, mammogram and making my health a priority. I have to admit that I don’t think about my personal health like I should. I’m the first one there when one of my family members gets ill or comes down with a “bug,” but when it comes to my health I don’t give it the same amount of priority. This year I want to change that. I want to make my health a priority.

Eating right (I’m still working on that), exercising (this year’s goal), getting check ups and visiting my doctors (in the works) and getting plenty of sleep are my goals for the year. I have a few more but these are the “big ones.”

I don’t eat as well as I should. As a result I am not getting enough of the important vitamins and minerals that my body needs to maintain it’s health.

Getting enough calcium is always an issue for me. Your body cannot produce calcium. It has to come from other sources (diet, supplements…).

I have lactose issues so drinking a glass of milk is not that easy for me to do (it will greatly upset my stomach). I have to rely on other foods like cheese and yogurt to make sure my body gets the calcium it needs. I’m also getting older where the risk of bone fractures and osteoporosis is greater. I cannot rely on a random yogurt here and there to provide me with the calcium my body needs. Thank goodness for Viactiv.

Did you know that a whopping 70% of adult women are calcium deficient? That is A LOT. I didn’t expect that total to be that high. I was thinking it was more around the 40% range. Even more shocking, that number jumps to around 85% for teen girls! As a mom to a teenage daughter that concerns me, especially because you need to “bank” your calcium when you are younger to help ensure bone health when you get older.

95% of peak bone mass is present by age 20 so the teenage years are not a good time to become calcium deficient.

In addition to being beneficial for bone health, calcium is also needed for healthy teeth and muscles – including the heart. Calcium also helps nerves function properly.

Thank goodness for Viactiv. Viactiv gives me delicious ways to ensure my body is receiving enough calcium each day. Viactiv calcium supplements are available in soft chews (milk chocolate, caramel and sugar-free milk chocolate) as well as new fruit flavored gummies. The new Viactiv Gummies are available at Walgreens and come in assorted tropical fruit flavors. They are also gluten and dairy free.

Viactiv Gummies a a fun and tasty way to get teen girls more calcium into their diets.

Viactiv is also the #1 doctor recommended calcium chew.

You only need one Viactiv Calcium Soft Chew taken twice a day to provide 100% of the daily value of calcium for most women. Viactiv also includes the essential vitamins D & K. The Viactiv Gummies also contain vitamin D.

They are intended to help achieve recommended daily dietary levels of these nutrients as a supplement. You should continue to have a diet rich in the vitamins and minerals your body requires, as well as get enough exercise, sleep and hydration.

I love Viactiv Calcium Soft Chews. I have been using them for many years. My teens enjoy them too, although now they are enjoying the gummies more so than the chocolate flavored chews.

I love how the Viactiv chews taste. They have an enjoyable taste to them. They are not chalky or bland tasting like other calcium products. I think their great taste help me to remember to take them daily. I look forward to taking them each day.

The chews are individually wrapped which helps when you need to take them on-the-go or if you are traveling and need to take some with you.

I know that taking Viactiv calcium products are helping me to make my body healthier and stronger so that I can accomplish other things on my goals list for 2015 – like riding a bike with my family and learning to roller blade.
