Scooby-Doo! And KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery

Here is a little known fact about me – I LOVE “hair bands.” I grew up in the 80’s listening to bands like Poison, Winger, Ratt, Twisted Sister and Whitesnake. I even met Dee Snider (lead singer of Twisted Sister) once totally by accident at a local park (he was there helping to raise funds and awareness for the March of Dimes).

Here is a photo from that day. It’s not a flattering photo (we were there to hang out by the river – we didn’t plan on any unexpected photo ops). My kids were not amused. They had no clue who Dee Snider was or why mom and dad were chatting with him. LOL!

One of my all time favorite band is not necessarily from the 80’s (more so the 70’s) is KISS. I LOVE KISS! Their music is awesome. I wish I could have seen them in concert. I bet they put on an amazing show.

There is a new Blu-ray/DVD release from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment that features the classic band along with another classic – Scooby-Doo! It’s called Scooby-Doo! And KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery.

KISS, one of the most popular rock bands of all time, takes center stage in the latest Scooby-Doo! full-length animated film, Scooby-Doo! And KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery, set for release by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) July 21, 2015. Starchild, Demon, Catman and Spaceman join everyone’s favorite teen sleuths in an explosive, new, must-see musical adventure no KISS Army member will want to miss!

It’s a rockin’ good time for the Scooby-Doo gang…or is it? A major concert featuring the world-famous rock band KISS is in jeopardy and legions of KISS fans will be let down, unless Scooby-Doo and his pals solve a perplexing mystery that’s keeping concert goers from the venue where the band is to perform.

Daphne, who has an enormous crush on KISS member Starchild, masterminds a plan to see the band in concert by telling her Mystery Inc. pals they’ve been summoned to solve a mystery at KISS World, a spectacular amusement park themed after the popular musical group.

The highly anticipated sold out concert, which is taking place on Halloween night at KISS World, gets dangerously close to being cancelled for security reasons after park visitors are frightened away from the premises by the Crimson Witch.

At KISS World the gang meets all four members of KISS, who agree to let Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma help them solve the mystery of the Crimson Witch. Together they embark on an unforgettable, rocking and rolling adventure. They discover that the Crimson Witch has come to KISS World to summon The Destroyer, an evil being from the alternate dimension of Kissteria! Together, the wicked duo’s ghastly plan is to destroy the earth! Can the gang’s cunning and KISS’s power of rock save the day?! Tune in to this rock and roll mystery for some thunderous, heavy FUN!

Jam-packed with special guest stars, Scooby-Doo! And KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery features guest voice performances from Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Darius Rucker, Garry Marshall, Penny Marshall, Jennifer Carpenter and Pauley Perrette. In addition, six KISS songs will be featured alongside an original new song performed by the band just for the film.

The film is available for download as well as on Blu-ray Combo Pack (SRP $24.98) and DVD (SRP $19.98) where ever movies are sold.

Check out the movie’s trailer.

It was weird seeing the KISS band members in cartoon form. It’s also an odd pairing – Scooby-Doo and KISS. Never in a million years would I think to partner KISS with Scooby-Doo in an animated film. It was especially weird seeing the animated versions of the members of KISS.

I loved hearing the KISS music in the film. I think that was my favorite part.

This is a typical Scooby-Doo film with silly humor, especially between Scooby and Shaggy.

The movie did get a bit weird towards the end (very Sci-Fi) and a bit trippy at times, but it was still a fun film.

I wouldn’t recommend this for very little children. The Crimson Witch might come across as a bit too scary and little ones might not appreciate (or understand) why the members of KISS dress the way they do. I would recommend this for kids 7 .

Who knows, this movie might just create a whole new generation of KISS fans.

The movie has a run time of approx. an hour and twenty minutes. I think the could have done the movie in an hour or less. It did drag here and there.

Kids will enjoy seeing Scooby-Doo and gang on another crazy adventure. Parents and grandparents will enjoy the nostalgia of seeing KISS and hearing some of their songs. This is a film that both young and old can enjoy together.

Here are some fun activities your family can do that relate to this film. Simply click on each link to download and print out.
