Floral, Stripes, and Not-Mom-Jeans

How was your weekend? Did you do any celebrating for Mother's Day? Being a mom is obviously a huge part of my identity, and there are few moments that go by that I'm not thinking about Jona or my family. However, I still find myself forgetting that Mother's Day is about me too.

Someone asked me last week, "What are you doing for Mother's Day?" and I heard myself say, "Well nothing really, my mom doesn't live here, but I'll talk to her on the phone." Then it clicked: oh, she means what are we doing for ME? Because I'm a mom too? Maybe I'll never get used to being in this exclusive club with its yearly holiday in May, but when it hits me I'm instantly grateful for my membership.

I'm also grateful that "mom jeans" are not the necessary attire. I'll take my skinny jeans, distressed jeans, or even a great pair of boot-cuts any day. Just add a couple of spring patterns, some bright color, and I'm ready to mom it up all weekend!
