Wenn ich auf etwas stehe, dann sind es Musiker, Rock'n'Roll und eine Party vor der eigentlichen Party. Als Einstimmung auf das Rock am Ring Festival lud Zippo Encore zu einem Musik Workshop ein, bei dem wir uns mit Hilfe von Lina Van de Mars und MusikWorks für 24h in Rockstars verwandelten - verdammte Axt, war das eine tolle Erfahrung! Seit dem ich klein bin, träume ich heimlich davon auf einer Bühne zu stehen und Lieder zu performen, doch leider ist meine Stimme viel zu unsicher um als Leadsänger den Ton anzugeben, eine Gitarre finde ich nur sehr ästhetisch und fürs Schlagzeug spielen fehlt mir definitiv das Rhythmusgefühl. Dieser Wunsch liegt also nicht nur außerhalb meiner Komfortzone, sondern auch meiner Vorstellung - aber wie heißt es so schön: Wenn man neue Dinge tut, Dinge, die man vorher so noch nie getan hat, dann hat man nicht nur automatisch ein spannenderes Leben, sondern es fängt auch erst richtig an. Natürlich wurde ich mit meinen Ängsten konfrontiert, als ich mit Sarah Jane (Vocal Coach des Tages und ein absolutes Goldstück) meine Stimme trainierte und letztendlich zwei Songs mit den Jungs und unserem weiblichen Bandmitglied Kathrynsky vor Publikum performte, doch Angst ist ein schlechter Berater und bringt einen keinesfalls weiter.

An diesem Tag stellte ich mir mindestens dreißig Mal die Frage 'Was mache ich hier eigentlich? Ach du kacke, das wirst du niemals packen' - doch genau das hat dieses Event und die Stimmung an diesem Tag so wunderschön gemacht. Jeder hatte Respekt vor den wartenden Zuschauern (die zwar nur für uns kamen und zum Glück auch wussten, dass es unser erster und letzter Auftritt war), jeder musste über seinen eigenen Schatten springen und doch viel jeder von uns am Ende voller Euphorie und Glück ins Bett. Danke an Zippo für diese unglaubliche Erfahrung, ich kann es kaum abwarten die Festivalsaison mit euch einzuleiten!

I have a lot of dreams for my future: find a nice man, become a proud father, have a cool, creative job and become a rock star. With the help of Zippo Encore's music workshop I was able to fulfil one of these dreams and became a lead singer for 24h (we even had a band shirt!). Damn, that event was a great experience! I knew I love rock music but I also knew that I was no singer, drummer and would never be a guitarist at this time; but I woke up and said to myself 'Perhaps you might need to take risks and leave your comfort zone, but life starts at this point.' I am frightful person by nature and was one the one hand very scared and on the other more than excited and happy. While the other band members learned to play two songs on bass, guitar and keyboard, Sarah Jane (the nicest vocal coach) and I did a vocal warm-up. At the end we had a gig at the rockstar suite in this super cool ho(s)tel called Superbude in Hamburg and all my fears were groundless - thanks to a partner like Zippo who makes you feel save and secure so that you can focus on your goals and turn your/their plans into reality. Since then I know what a fantastic team can accomplish, especially as everyone involved is putting in the same effort while still having fun together.
