A Few of My Favorite Things

Amanda over at Knock on Wood said I should fill this out so I’m going to! I encourage all of you to do this, too…such a fun way to get to know each other!

Favorite pet I ever had

Toby, a Maltipoo I had in college. Toby was hilarious and didn’t like to be more than two feet from me at any time. So funny.

Favorite food I’ve cooked

Oh man, that is a really tough question. I think my favorite thing to cook is my stuffed ziti…it is so good!

Teacher who changed my life, and why

There are two! Dr. Pacelle and Dr. Wiegand from Georgia Southern University. They were both Political Science professors and they were amazing. They both taught my so much, and I think the most important thing they taught me was passion for politics. Not only were they amazing teachers, but I became close personal friends with them both and still chat with them from time to time. In fact, both of them came to my wedding reception!

The best paid entertainment I’ve ever seen

Honestly, I’m going to have to say Six Flags. We bought seasons passes last year and we had SO much fun. And yes, while so much of it is not entertainment that you “watch”, there are shows and things…so I think it counts.

Favorite hobby activity that makes me get lost for hours

Blogging! I have sat down to read blogs and do other blog things and looked up and it was literally hours later without me noticing time passing.

My greatest skill (past or current)

I think I’d have to go with cooking. Although I don’t post a ton of recipes, it’s mostly just because I can’t take great pictures of the food yet…but I hope to change that soon!

The best advice I’ve ever been given

My dad always said that even if I don’t agree with somebody’s opinion on something, I still have to respect that they are allowed to have their own opinion. This is kind of a spin on this famous quote by Voltaire: “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” I think this is something we have forgotten in our country…everybody has a right to their opinion, and you can disagree with their opinion without judging them or criticizing them as a person.

My favorite flower or plant – personally grown

Roses! But not the kind from the grocery store when they haven’t been allowed to open. We have had rose bushes at the last couple of our houses and I love when my husband goes and picks one for me after it opens up. Beautiful.

The most favorite gift I’ve ever gotten – what and from whom?

My husband got me a necklace for our first Valentine’s Day together (when we were just dating), and I love it. I wear it almost every day.

My most suspenseful moment

Waiting on a job offer that I thought I would get way before!

My most unexpected achievement?

Going to China! I never would have expected to wind up there, even if it didn’t work out.

My favorite paid employment, ever

I was an office manager at a medical malpractice insurance company for a brief time (just helping out during college while they were between office managers) and I LOVED it! I got to organize their new office and I love to organize. I want to be a professional organizer.

The favorite dessert I’ve ever eaten

Cheesecake topped with cherry pie filling. Yum.

The most scared I’ve been by a bug or critter

Years ago a bird got trapped in my house and attacked my head over and over again…it was not happy!

My favorite household chore

Um, I hate chores. I just do them. Does anybody like chores?

Favorite item no one knows I own?

I don’t think I really have anything that I love but nobody knows I own it…I guess maybe my husband’s brewing system? Although I have mentioned it here on the blog

The prettiest shiny object I’ve ever owned

My wedding ring! I got to pick it out myself and I love it!

Favorite outdoor smell

Rain! Even if it’s really just all the bad smells that are already in the air…I still like it.

Favorite song I ever danced to and with whom?

I love dancing to anything with the Doctor and Toddles! We have mini dance parties all the time.

The favorite place I have ever traveled to where I’d spend my whole life if I could?

Cruise ship! I want to buy a space on one of those live-on cruise ships. I would die of happiness.

The most significant change I’ve had to go through and how it made me better

I think coming back from China was a really big change. I kind of had to change my whole life’s direction when I got back, so that was tough. But in the end it was the right decision for me.

Favorite environmental sound (rain, thunder, etc.)

Rain again!

Best time I’ve had playing with a pet

Watching my husband try to play fetch with our dog Princess and her looking at him like “you fetch it. I’m not going to.”

The favorite picture I’ve ever taken?

This picture of Toddles. It’s just so cute and so her.
