Top 40 | October

Welcome to the October edition of Top 40 songs for your wedding!

Unfortunately the October top 40 charts did not have a whole lot to offer us in the way of wedding music. The first week brought us Pretty Brown Eyes, by Cody Simpson, but I’m just not going to recommend it because it’s every kind of annoying. It also brought us Bruno Mars’ Gorilla, but it’s not super wedding-ish since it’s quite dirty and borderline misogynistic. A far cry from Just The Way You Are.

The second week didn’t get much better. I usually recommend all JT songs, since they just make you want to shake it. TKO is no exception, but it’s also about cheating and breaking up, so… not a top contender. Miss Movin’ on by Fifth Harmony is another song about breaking up. Maybe people just don’t release love songs in the fall? I can’t say. And of course, Miley Cyrus came in like a Wrecking Ball, in all her strange, sad, naked glory. Oh, Miley.

Britney Spears did come out with one danceable one that week… which begins our very short list of October favorites.

1. Work, Work – Britney Spears

You can dance to it. That’s pretty much it.

2. Alone Together – Fall Out Boy

It has one of those tempos that’s not quite mellow enough for dinner and not fast enough for dancing, but it is a love song. The first one.

3. Marry Me – Jason Derulo

A pretty sweet song, actually. Very appropriate. This would be a great recessional songs for R&B/pop/hip-hop fans.

And week 4 had no new songs. Interesting month.

Didn’t want to leave you totally high and dry, so here’s a musical gem for you. It still has that somber feeling that seems appropriate for fall, while being hauntingly beautiful and containing wedding vows for lyrics. So there you go.
