Simon Says Stamp - Choose Happy - Another coffee card!
I bought this set just because of the saying that I used on this card, though I like all the rest of them too. I originally tried out my idea for the background with a rainbow of colors on white, and it just looked WEIRD. As I said yesterday, cold colors just don't say COFFEE. So I scrapped that, got out a selection of brown inks and started again. Back when my main hobby was knitting, I was fond of saying, "Brown isn't a color, it's a DISEASE," but when it comes to stamping, all colors must be our friends, and brown is obviously a very suitable color for a card featuring coffee. STINKIN' CUTE!!! (YILM!) This card underwent a great amount of metamorphosis as I worked with the small cup image and greeting. Once I had nailed the colors and cardstock for the background, I stamped each cup in a succession of different inks from light to dark. I did this by eye, not using a positioner of any kind as it was a clear stamp and easy to get a fairly good result.
I tried a variety of solutions for the greeting until I discovered it fit perfectly into the Peekaboo Window die from My Favorite Things. The lettering on this greeting is meant to look a bit scratchy, so don't think you've stamped it badly.
I then had the brilliant notion of pulling out the Warm and Fuzzy dies from My Favorite Things for this small cup, which I cut out of Tim Holtz Kraft-Kore cardstock.
And these Mini Hearts Outlines from Simon Says Stamp make the perfect "steam" rising from the cup, cut from Lipstick Red cardstock from Simon Says Stamp!
This ribbon is some American Craft ribbon I've had in the stash forever, but it is PERFECT for this card so I had to use it. For the base of the card, I again used the Kona Koffee cardstock from Simon Says Stamp.
