{ Tory Burch Robinson Double Zip Tote – Review }

Hi, I’m a hater. I’m 100% not a Tory Burch Girl. You know one. We all do. Not to knock the brand entirely, but it’s just not … me. I do, however, like investing in classically styled bags that I can have for years and use on a daily basis/beat the shit out of without showing any bruises. I was in the market for something black and plain for a long time (I only have one other black bag, I swear). I don’t have a nice tote so this was a well-made one that didn’t absolutely scream “LOOK AT THE BRAND OF BAG I HAVE!”

I stick to anything with a crossbody strap (who wants to hold their bag in their elbow all the time like a jerk) so that was my method for searching. It came down to the Double Zip Tote and the Robinson Pebbled Square Tote, which is just an inch or so shorter but about the same in inches wider than the Double Zip. Did you follow that? I barely did. Anyway. I liked the amount of space in the Double Zip and the fact that I can truly say I have nothing quite like it. Also, it doesn’t hurt that I can fit a laptop in one of the size zips. Since I am currently carrying the Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody Mini Avery and I was struggling not to get something too close in size for sake of variety.

I’ve carried this tote on and off for about 3 months now and it’s living up to what I hoped for. I went on a weekend trip to upstate NY and this was all I needed both for day shopping and dinner night since it is so simple and pretty; it even comfortably held a bottle of wine! The crossbody strap sits nicely on your shoulder but this bag is definitely not feather-light, even when completely empty. Since the scratch-resistant leather is a little sturdier than my soft leather bags, the strap will take some breaking in to become a little more comfortable as I’d like but I’d rather a hardy bag than one I need to baby. My only criticism is I wish the strap was a little wider to hold heavier items and not dig into my shoulder as much.

I will admit that I’ll probably purchase the Square Tote in the future in the luggage (caramel) color since it’s a little smaller for times when I just don’t need the space that this tote offers… even though I’m admittedly now sewww very basik. The struggle of a common white girl, I tell ya.
