Bottega Organica Skincare Review

I was kindly sent a few products from the lovely Bottega Organica many months ago, but in the shuffle of my move in March, I’m sorry to say that so many products I was testing out got put on the back burner. Even though I had already tried and tested a few brands, I just completely forgot about them in the midst of the crazy move so I apologize for that, but look out for more green beauty reviews being pushed out in the next few weeks that have been a long time coming!

Bottega Organica Story

Bottega Organic began when a geneticist, Dr. Alimonti, was searching for a novel cure for cancer. Amidst his search, he developed a screening method to determine the effects that various plant extracts would have on skin aging and health. This led to his discovery of several plant combinations which had the potential to slow the aging process. Thus, Bottega Organica was born!

Things to Love About Bottega Organica

  • Made from Nature, Built by Science.
  • Powerful plant combinations are scientifically shown to slow down the aging process as discovered by Dr. Alimonti.
  • These plant combinations were carefully selected by Dr. Alimonti to help heal, soothe and improve your skin.
  • All products are formulated with potent all natural and organic ingredients, specially combining various plant extracts for their efficacy to heal skin and slow the aging process.
  • Most of the products include ingredients that have been harvested by Bottega Organica themselves!

Bottega Organica Skincare Review

Nourishing Body Oil in Vanilla ♥

This nourishing body oil is lovely for winter and/or those who suffer from dry skin on their body. The ingredients are wonderfully nourishing, though the scent was not my favorite. This kind of vanilla is super natural; not your typical vanilla fragrance. It’s a good thing for nature, but I happen to prefer the artificial vanilla scent (sorry LOL). This one is much too sweet, in my opinion, and smells a lot more like cake than vanilla. I know some people like that, but I’m not really one of them. As a body oil, this is wonderfully nourishing, hydrating, and softening to skin, but I’m not sure I’d want to repurchase given the scent. I’ll probably go out for one of their other scents, though!

Ingredients: Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil (bo), prunus armeniaca (apricot*) fruit extract, daucus carota sativa (carrot*) root extract, galega officinalis (French lilac) extract (bo), vanilla planifolia (vanilla) fruit oil*, salvia officinalis (sage*) extract, salvia haenkei (prawn sage) extract (eo).

* certified organic herbs flowers and fruits // (bo) harvested by Bottega Organica // (eo) natural component of essential oil

Dual Action {Oil Water} Peppermint Toner Mist ♥

This is a really unique product because it’s an oil water solution that you shake up before use and then mist on your skin. You can use it to help dissolve makeup, as a hydrating face mist, or even as a makeup setting spray if you happen to have skin that’s on the dry side. As a makeup dissolving water, keep this away from your eyes as the peppermint is very cooling and can irritate sensitive eyes – I’m speaking from experience haha. As a hydrating mist, it works wonderfully on warmer days with the cooling effects or on days when my skin feels dry and tight because it’s hydrating, and as a makeup setting spray, it didn’t work for my skin as it’s more combination and made it look too oily. For dry skin types, though, I think this would be brilliant! It’s also nice to use as a toner mist before applying face oils if you’re looking for deep hydration as that is my favorite way to use this one. It works so well to help increase skin hydration. If you happen to have acne prone or irritated skin, I think you could benefit as well because it’s so gentle and soothing.

Ingredients: Cucumis sativus (cucumber*) fruit water, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil (bo), menta piperita (peppermint *) extract, menta piperita (peppermint*) oil, salvia officinalis (sage*) extract, salvia haenkei (prawn sage) extract (bo), limonene eo, linalool (eo).

Anti-Blemish Oil in Orange ♥

The last item I was able to try out was their Anti-Blemish Oil and this one was probably my favorite of the 3 products I tried! It’s super nourishing, but includes calming mallow and chamomile alongside antibacterial and healing sage. The oil is thicker than most acne prone type face oils and treatment, but I think if it’s during the winter or if you happen to have combination to dry or sensitive skin that is okay with essential oils, this would work brilliantly! It’s very calming and soothing as well so if you experience redness, you might want to try this one. The oil is in a base of olive oil so I’m sure that’s why it’s so thick and super oily skin types might want to apply this in small quantities to avoid having an oil slick effect, but I think it could help a lot with balancing out skin and healing blemishes more quickly! On top of that, the plant ingredients have anti-aging properties as well so if you’re someone with more mature skin who experiences acne breakouts, this could definitely help you out.

Ingredients: Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil (bo), malva sylvestris (mallow*) extract, chamomilla recutita matricaria (chamomile*) extract, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil*, limonene (eo), salvia officinalis (sage*) extract, salvia haenkei (prawn sage) extract (bo), linalool (eo), citral (eo), geraniol (eo), farnesol (eo).

* certified organic herbs flowers and fruits // (bo) harvested by Bottega Organica // (eo) natural component of essential oil

Overall, I really love this brand for it’s science-backed natural products. I love that all the products are completely 100% natural and organically formualted with proven plant extracts that help slow down aging. I also love that the products are all gentle and hydrating. That said, I think combination to dry skin types will be the ones to enjoy this brand the most because a lot of the products seem to be in a base of organic olive oil which is a heavier plant oil and might not work for everyone. I think mature skin types will really love this brand as well because of it’s use of anti-aging plant extracts in nearly every single product. I love what this brand stands for and the integrity behind all their ingredients. I also love that some of their ingredients are harvest by Bottega Organica themselves because the quality is higher and will have more quality control than ingredients found elsewhere. I definitely recommend you all give them a look and try for yourself!
