Being Flexible With New Year’s Resolutions and Multi-Functional Outfits

Why hello! Happy New Year!

Just thought I’d show off my new multi-functional outfit. It’s a new year so I’m really trying to look put together everyday. It’s my new thing.

I know we’re a couple of weeks into the new year already, but my attempts to get everything down on paper before the first of the year didn’t quite go over as planned.

Some of you have all your goals written out and are right on target, others of us are still figuring out exactly what goals to focus on. I’m also learning that even if you have particular goals in mind, life might just throw you a curve ball and you may need to reevaluate some things.

I think that’s the beauty in goals though. You make goals, you envision them, you make progress, then you get kicked back a bit.

The true test is how many times you can get back up and work towards those goals. Everyone has set backs and may need to be a bit flexible, but if you’re ultimately moving forward and making baby steps towards your goals, well, then you’re doing something right.

A couple of weeks ago I thought my new years resolutions were to focus more on my marathon training and get a particular goal time for The Boston Marathon. While I’m still resolving to kick fear to the curb and go for it, I’ve had to change my view a little bit and take things one day at a time.

I’m going to get to Boston no matter what, but since I’m unsure of what the next few weeks and months will look like with this whole hip dysplasia business, I’m just going to take things one day at a time.

I had a thought the other morning while walking to the workout room at 4:45 am. It was such a different, yet awesome feeling to just want to get a workout in for no other reason than to do something for myself and feel good about it. I wanted to push through a sweat session just to be a better person.

I think when we focus on New Year’s resolutions we need to have that be part of the thought process.

Life is crazy busy and we always have excuses to not follow through on our resolutions, but if we focus on the WHY and the meaningfulness behind our goals it helps motivate us to keep going.

I’m always working on the whole balance factor as a resolution. You know, trying to find the balance between work, being a mom of five year old twins, running, teaching classes and doing the best I can at keeping up a household. It’s tough business and it’s even harder this year back with a full time job.

So, in being flexible with New Year’s resolutions and knowing when we need to re-evaluate a bit, here are my top three main focuses for the year. I had to narrow it down so I could really focus on attaining them. If I make too many I just lose focus and find myself not really being successful at any of them.

Number 1:

I’m really trying to put myself together everyday. It’s my new thing. If you dress the part, you’ll feel better about yourself. I’m doing just that these days.

I’ve been the queen of getting by in sweaty workout clothes all day for the past four years. These days I’m trying to clean it up a little and find functional workout clothes that can be for work, for play, and for being comfortable around the house. Less laundry is so my thing.

Luckily with this new job business I spotted some really cute clothes for a really great bargain from Target® C9 by Champion®.

I fell in love with this C9 by Champion® Women’s Premium Hoodie and the matching Women’s French Terry Knitted Pants.

I was actually shopping with the boys and didn’t try them on in the store, but was super excited when they fit so well at home. I may or may not be buying another outfit very similar, but in a different color.

Number 2:

I’m making emotional, physical and family health our main priority. I want to make sure we’re doing the best we can to keep ourselves healthy. That means making daily life a little easier by planning ahead, being more active as a family, having more healthy food around the house and being able to put together healthy meals for the family quickly. That also means traveling with healthy meals on the road occasionally.

That also means sometimes having to eat on your lap in the car and not get your new outfit dirty.

While sometimes life is crazy busy and we’re forced to eat on the road, I’m learning that a huge part of the big picture of health is not only being active and eating well, but also giving myself a break once in awhile. I’m taking some more time for myself to just relax and enjoy the little things.

Number 3:

Being in the moment more and connecting and inspiring others the best that I can.. Whether that’s students, friends, family, clients, etc., I just want to encourage and lift people up. Life is tough and enough things in life knock us down so it’s our duty to pick people up. A little act of kindness goes a long way friends.

So yes, I’m a little late addressing the whole new years resolutions, but life is a marathon, not a sprint and if we’re going to make things happen we have to take each day for what it’s worth.

That being said, each day that ends with cuddles and quality time with loved ones is a day well spent.

This post was sponsored by Target® through their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. While I was compensated to write a post about Target® C9, all opinions are my own.

What are your main New Year’s resolutions?

Have you had to be flexible with your goals or readjust already?

Are you a fan of multi-functional outfits?
