Deep Dream Thoughts and Friday Favorites

Hello!

Just stopping by really quick between loads of laundry and going through old toys to donate. Summer is coming to an end way too soon and it’s time I tackled my big at home to do list. I’m saving all the fun things like this for last. Ha ha.

I went back to the place where we got in our family “junk miles” by my self this morning. I had a goal to go around 3 times to get in 15 miles. Unfortunately I took way too long to get out the door and right when I started the sun came out and it was super hot. During the first mile I was pretty much trying to talk myself out of the whole long run thing. I just wasn’t into it.

But, somewhere along the way during my second sweaty loop I realized that it was time to bring the work. No more excuses. No more just dreaming big and telling others to dream big, but really doing something about it. That’s that hardest part for me. Anyone can dream big, but actually getting out there and putting in the hard work and the time and committing to it is that hard part. There’s always an excuse, isn’t there?

But, if you want to make your dreams come true, you better get out there and do go for it. Yes? I kept thinking about that pretty much the whole time today.

I thought running the same loop three times would be really easy and fun. It was okay, just weird seeing the same things (and some of the same people) over and over. I liked it though since I just stopped for water after every loop and didn’t have to carry any with me. I’ll definitely be back there again.

It was such a great feeling once I was done. Isn’t it always?

Since it’s Friday and all and I’ve had some favorite things I’ve been wanting to share I figure I better share them now.

I’m back on the occasional Coke Zero train. I avoided diet soda for so long, but I’m all about a good Coke Zero over ice every once and awhile. Today just happen to be that day and wouldn’t you know I picked up this “Dreamer” one. Too perfect.

I always take a little extra Vega chlorella when I’m drinking one of these.

I know I talked about junk miles with the boys being my new favorite and I’m sure they’re going to be my favorite for years to come. I got a couple of really helpful comments about junk miles and how they’re great to balance things out and nice to slow things down to keep healthy and prevent injuries in the long run. My friend Tina Muir, who’s a freaking ELITE runner, said she’s also added slow, easy miles into her training. She sent over a couple of great articles to encourage all of us to add those junk miles in. In fact, I just told Mom I’m going to find a 5K for her and Dad to sign up for so we can get them in on out junk mile outings. I think she was trying to hold back her excitement on the phone. Ha ha.

Here are the articles that are both from RunnersConnect.com:

How Running 80% Can Make You 23% Faster

(I really like this article and am going to embrace the 80/20 rule. I get HIIT with the classes I teach so I’m going to take the pressure off to get a lot of interval training in with running. I like the slower miles anyway. He he.)

How Do Easy Runs Help You Race Faster?

I’ve been making sure to get strength training in at least 3 times a week now. Yesterday was on off day, but I still wanted to get a couple core moves in after my run. I did a barefoot static one leg hold on each side for 2 minutes.

I hadn’t done it for awhile so it was harder than I remembered and I think being barefoot makes it harder too.

Then I did 3 sets of V-sits on the BOSU.

I’m on a mission to see if there’s any way to get my pre-twin abs back. I don’t think there is with the whole diastasis issue, but we’re giving it a shot.

I got all creative the other morning and made an egg white, cauliflower rice (Which by the way is still out of stock at Trader Joe’s) and nectarine scramble with cinnamon.

I thought it was a good idea, but it really wasn’t good. I need to just stick to the recipes Coach Elizabeth gives me. Ha ha.

Okay, on to a few random favorite things.

I’m currently loving Quest Nutrition protein powder for protein ice cream. I used up my last peanut butter flavor packet the other day and it was a sad sad day.

If you haven’t tried this yet and you don’t have issues with whey protein, you really need to try it. It’s seriously so darn good.

It’s amazing as peanut butter protein ice cream with a Fit Crunch protein bar mixed in. Who needs a blizzard when you can have this, right?

I try to eat gluten free as much as possible, but I’m not totally strict about it. I’m always on the lookout though for gluten free bread options to keep in the freezer at home. I found these the other day at Sprouts and both of them are awesome. I’ve been using the Rudi’s spinach tortillas to wrap up my eggs in the morning and the everything bagel flats are good just on their own.

Handful just came out with a camo bra.

How cool is that? I haven’t seen it in person yet, but I’m pretty excited about it.

I’m also pretty excited about this cool #RocknBlog box that showed up today. There’s some pretty fun stuff in there.

I can’t believe summer is almost over. I better soak up as much time as possible with these cool dudes.

That’s a pirate hook since they’re by a pool and all.

Oh and since we’re sharing favorites, this is their current favorite bedtime book.

Have a great weekend!

Here’s a flower just for you.

Here’s really good quote too.

How great is this reminder?

You’re welcome.
