Long Time, No Blog

Why hello. Happy Memorial Day!

Good stuff right? The picture is from this post four years ago. I hope you had a fabulous day and had a chance to remember and honor those that have served our country and continue to serve for us.

Long time no blog, huh?

I finally decided something had to give for a bit since I’m working on the whole simplifying life thing.

Speaking of simplifying, my workouts all last week were short and simple. I was giving myself one more week of no plan or anything and just focusing more on rest and sleep. It was nice, but I’m ready to start this week with a little plan of action finally.

Last week my longest run was 10 miles on the treadmill while I watched pretty much the best movie ever.

I have no idea how many miles I ran totally last week.

I’m severely behind on laundry (as you can see with all my clean clothes that have been hung to dry in the workout room), but since I have nothing to hide I’ll show you the mess because this move I did the other day was awesome.

I love doing rows to work back muscles. Sometimes people forget to work the back and just work chest and core with a bazillion push-ups. When I’m at home I do back work with a resistance band, rows with weights or rows with the Ultimate Sandbag. I got all creative the other day and instead of doing them on the dome side of the BOSU ball I did them on the flat side.

It was a little hard to get situated, but I liked the extra challenge of having to try to balance at the same time.

If you don’t have a BOSU ball you can add a little balance work by just lifting one leg off the floor while you row too.

Since I only teach one resistance type class a week now I’m either taking someone else’s class or scheduling two other days to get my strength training in. It plays such a big part in injury prevention.

I spent quite a bit of time last night laying in bed planning out some goals and such. I’m still not sure what this little hip of mine has in mind for the future, but I decided to plan out some goals, but be flexible with them as needed. Flexible is not my favorite word, but I’m working on it. Ha.

While I’ve been away I’ve been really trying to pick things up on the mama and home front. It’s been nice having some extra time and energy to do that for a change.

We finally opened our awesome #bebox that was sent to us from BE:Kids Mobile.

It’s a super awesome monthly family devotional box with daily devotionals, questions to ask your kids, fun activities and crafts, inspirational lunch notes and so much more.

My favorite lunch note for the week was this one.

Even though the boys are five now I still play the whole exhausted mother of twins card a lot.

I’m actually hoping the mug will last 12 more years. I can keep playing that card until they’re 18 right?

Any guesses what this is?

It’s a target friends. That’s what happens during my super quick morning shower. I guess it could be worse.

The long weekend has been awesome. From Friday afternoon on it’s been one fun event after the other. Heck yes I was smiling line crazy on my way home from work last Friday. Doesn’t everyone?

The boys and I went on a little adventure. Our plans fell through, but thankfully I came up with a new one on the spot that turned out fabulously.

Thank you Belmont Park for the entertainment. If you’re ever in San Diego it’s totally worth a visit. Not to mention it’s right on the beach.

I guess I’m showing you both pictures since Joaquin really wants you to see his pirate face (if you didn’t see it on instagram already).

You’re welcome.

Coach Elizabeth is taking this week off with her clients, so I’m going through old recipes and daily menus she’s given me.

I have chocolate on the brain at all times so I’ll show you my current two favorite things.

CocoaVia is back in the house. I either have a packet or two capsules a day now as a supplement.

Man I love this stuff.

Since May is celiac awareness month I thought you should really know about these awesome Element dark chocolate corn cakes I discovered from Vitacost.

Oh man they are good, but oh so addicting.

The boys and I spent way too much time the other day at Barnes and Nobles. It’s so fun to just thumb through all the books. The boys came home with quite the collection.

I came home with a pretty spiffy new bookmark.

You know you want one.

You know you also want to see a couple cat pictures since it’s been way too long.

You’re welcome.

Oh and here’s Joaquin’s lizard catch for the day. He’s got some serious skill.

Random, but I actually baked a batch of pumpkin protein muffins just now. Gosh I hope they came out so I can finally post a recipe on here. It’s been way too long. Ha.

But for now I’ll leave you with some motivation for the short week. It’s going to be a great one!

I really love this first one from Fit Athletic (where I teach spin).

Have an amazing week!
