Potpourri of STUFT Stuff- Running, Hip Update and the Swagger Wagon

This is a mishmash of random stuff because well, I can barely keep my eyes open, but keep wanting tp pass some news along.

First of all, my favorite Starbucks drink is still amazing. I only get it when I earn enough stars for a reward, but here it is again just in case you’ve missed it.

Green tea soy latte, unsweetened with 2 shots of espresso.

It is soooooo good.

Know what else is good? Actually, I mean great?

Spending time with these guys. Yep. Nothing beats it and I need more of it.

Let’s talk running really quick.

I went on a long run over the weekend. I’m going to say it was the best out of the three I’ve had lately. Yep, I’ve had three total since The TCS New York City Marathon and actually I’m gosh darn lucky I’ve even had those that have been relatively pain free.

Anyhoo….

It was a really long therapy session with a lot of thoughts. It’s always better going into a long run with lots going on in your head. I swear the time goes by faster. The scenery wasn’t too shabby either.

The impromptu cold water soak afterwards was a really great idea too.

Main thing on my mind was things that went down at my doctor visit with the hip specialist on Friday and whether or not Boston is happening for sure.

My two other runs since have been shorter ones on the treadmill (6.5 and an 8 to be exact). In fact, barely happened since it took me three alarms to get up. Yes, three, but I finally got the freak out of bed to watch Failure to Launch for the 10th time.

I’ve been doing more of my running in the Wave Inspire 11 shoes for a little more support as opposed to the Sayonaras. More support is a good things right now.

Actually, a lot of things are good right now:

lots and lots of coffee, living out of huge bags,

writing out fitness class plans on a index cards,

staring at this view late at night (you’re welcome by the way),

Vega One mocha smoothies on the road, matching shoes with outfits,

and Kind Bars.

Dang I love all different kinds of these KIND bars. Ha ha. See what I did there?

Moving on.

Here’s a really quick hip update. It’s been feeling better and I spent quite a lot of time sitting staring out this window Friday waiting in between x-rays at the hip specialist.

The amazing hip. Funny stuff. Actually I guess my displaced, degenerated hip is pretty amazing as it’s somehow holding up these days.

It doesn’t fit in the socket and is out slightly so that is why the extra pressure is on labrum. My doctor didn’t really know why the prolotherapy had worked in the past and why it’s finally working again now, but if it’s working I’m going to go for a few more sessions.

He also gave my the okay for Boston. Actually, I think his exact words were “I’m not going to tell you not to run the marathon.” He also said that is my marathon days are over, running the Boston Marathon is a pretty good race to run as my last one. He said to make the decision about Big Sur and after Boston. We’ll play that one by ear.

He did also say though that after this race (or races) I need to make some changes. The shorter strides, slower pace, running less miles, etc. that I’m currently doing is working for the time being, but we’ll have to think about making some real changes in the next few months to potentially avoid the whole osteotomy thing.

So, for the next few weeks I’m just hanging on to slow, steady miles. Major decision will have to happen soon, but for now we’re just hanging on.

Speaking of major decisions. We made one over the weekend. We finally said goodbye to the trusted Toyota Highlander.

It was sad. We’ve had a lot of memories with that good car.

But, we got to say a great big HELLO to the Swagger Wagon. Oh heck yes.

Let us introduce you to Silvo.

I have a workout for you tomorrow that you can do just about anywhere complete with a less than mediocre video. Woo hoo!

Hope you’re week is off to a great start!

Who else drives a minivan? Is it weird to feel really cool driving one?

What’s good in your life right now?
