How to overcome a blogger’s block

The dreaded blogger’s block, or a total lack of inspiration: it happens to everyone. In fact, it happened to me last week. As with every creative activity, having a blog means you’ll constantly have to come up with new and fresh input. But what if you completely blank out and really don’t know what to post anymore? Here’s what I do get re-inspired:

(1.) Take a break
Taking a break isn’t the easiest thing to do, as you know the online business never sleeps. Still, sometimes it might be best to just step away from it for a while. Take a couple of days off, and do something completely different. Perhaps it will feel like a step back, but in the end, it will help you to take two steps forward.

(2.) Leave the computer off
Working on a computer all day every day can truly turn you into a computer yourself. You do everything on auto mode, and there’s hardly any thinking involved. Routine can be killing for creativity. Recognize this? Time to leave the computer off for a while!

(3.) Flick through magazines
So what to do when you’re not behind a screen? Stepping away from the computer doesn’t mean that you can’t be productive. Use this time to flick through actual magazines. If you feel like it, you could even create a mood board, which will definitely help you to get inspired again.

(4.) Go for a stroll
The fresh air helps me to get my head straight and I always feel re-energized when I get home. I should make it a daily habit, I think!
Don’t forget to look around you, even something as little as a blossom tree for example can sometimes give you new ideas.

(5.) Go somewhere you’ve never been before
A different city, a museum, or even a local coffee place: a change of scenery can work miracles. It doesn’t even have to be a big chance, as long as it’s different from the environment that you are working in most of the time.

What do you guys do when you’re lacking inspiration?
