Chicago is such a unique city. I first discovered it in 2013, with my bestie Aurore, and my opinion was exactly the same at the time (see this blog post). Whenever I am in the city, I feel more energised and balanced than anywhere else. The energy in Chicago is very positive and makes me feel like I can conquer the world and be whoever I want to be. But in the same time, it’s also a city where I can relax, unwind and truly appreciate the simple things, like sipping a hot coffee along Lake Michigan. It feels very brutal to be back in Belgium, but I know that the coming months will be very exciting!
Funny thing is that every time I mention my trips to Chicago, people always ask me the same thing… Why Chicago? And by the end of my lengthy monologue, people are always planning a vacation there. I just can’t help it, the love for the windy city is truly contagious!
All my life, I’ve been convinced that I would someday live in London. Growing up, I used to go to London multiple times a year and it always felt like home to me. I know my way around better than I do in Brussels and feel like myself whenever I hit this British capital. I have so many memories associated with the city and I am always super excited to go back. Until recently, London was, by far, my favorite place in the whole world. So when I first discovered Chicago, I was very surprised to see how quickly I fell in love with it. And the truth is that if you ask me what’s my favorite place in the world is, I would have a very very hard time deciding between Chicago and London… Crazy huh?
I’ll leave you with a couple (read an overload) of photos from our trip, but I’ll be back on Friday with a complete city guide with all the best restaurants, shops and sights in the city!
