When I was growing up, I remember my family spending countless weekends eagerly gardening in our front yard. Living in Southeast Asia, I recalled delightful little tropical plants and blooms framing my childhood home. I never really gave much of a thought to how much I miss the beauty of gardens until my husband and I moved from Los Angeles to England where thriving blossoms are so abundant. I relived the memories of our lovely front yard and unexpectedly realized how much I enjoy touring botanical gardens on our travels. So here I am in Ireland, escaping off to the world of flora and fauna, in the middle of this gorgeous Victorian city here in Belfast. The thing about the Belfast Botanic Gardens is that it is one of the oldest that feature a 19th century Palm House that serves as one of the original models of what a curvilinear and cast iron glasshouse looks like. My outfit features these easy culottes and off-the-shoulder lace top, which were the best things to have on this flourishing day. Delicate and sweet like a flawless bloom, it’s the perfect ensemble to wear while smelling the fragrant scents inside the glasshouse.

Have I ever told you how calming and soothing it is to visually examine efflorescent flowers and plants? There are actually about 800 botanic gardens in Europe alone. Aside from the Belfast Botanic Gardens, I also adore the gardens in Versailles and the Gardens of Luxembourg in France. Moreover, The Arboretum at the Glasgow Botanic Gardens in Scotland was also pretty classy and breathtaking giving prominence to abounding exotic plants. One of the best things my husband and I became aware of was how seeing the world was able to broaden our cultural, environmental, intellectual and social wellness like we could never have imagined. By being surrounded by these prolific blooms, I’ve discovered that gardening is truly an art form. Art is genuinely everywhere in Europe, even in the most overlooked of landmarks.

Very surprising as it may seem, this vintage 19th Century Conservatory still exists and what a hidden gem it is! Soothing, reassuring, relaxing and serene, botanic gardens are such delightful treasures. Wherever we are in the world, I feel that it is necessary to wonderfully blossom. Turning towards the sunshine, we’ve got to let ourselves evolve and grow. I realized that opening up to the light, we must always have the courage to be like a wild rose, one that is beautiful and calm.
