Styley Places: Bloom, Sag Harbor, New York

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, by now you’ve probably figured out that I’ve been spending a lot of time at the beach this summer. I have even acquired for what me passes as a tan (using the adjective “ultraviolet” to describe my skin color is not much of a stretch). But sometimes it rains, even on Long Island. And that’s how you end up visiting cool places like Bloom in Sag Harbor.

Bloom, which is owned and run by Mona Nerenberg, doesn’t have a website. When I asked Mona if she had an Instagram feed, she told me no, that the store doesn’t do any of that stuff. And yet here I am, using photos I took on my iPhone to blog about it…ah, old school meets new school. My favorite.

In any event, if you find yourself wandering around the East End with nothing to do–say there’s a sudden unfortunate spell of weather, or one of the sails on your boat was torn by someone carelessly brandishing a croquet mallet while drunk, or all the courts were booked at the club–go check out Bloom. The space is so serene and beautiful, I was ready to sign a lease and move in, but that was one thing, sadly, that my money couldn’t buy.
