Merry Christmas 2012!

Merry Christmas, friends! We had one criteria for this first Christmas as a married couple and that was to keep it quiet. Although we've spent the weeks leading up to the Christmas holiday making merry with our friends, we decided to hunker down with each other these last few days surrounded only by the glow of our Christmas tree and each other. We may never have a Christmas this quiet again so this one is to be cherished and enjoyed at full value.

I've been baking like a maniac and have been dubbed "the Keebler elf" by the Mister who has, as of yesterday, begged me to stop making holiday treats. I will spend the next week pawning off cookies to whoever comes in contact with me. Beware!
Today we will spend the morning and early afternoon relaxing at home before we head to my mother's for a holiday meal of her famous eggplant parmesan, meatballs, sausage and braciole. For dessert, we'll have chocolate eclairs made from scratch, my mother's crowning Christmas achievement. As is tradition, we'll join the fat and happy masses for a Christmas day movie.

Here's wishing everyone the happiest of holidays with the people you love most. May you have a joyful day filled with memories and traditions, new and old.
