Finding the good ole' days

Last weekend, before the sun was completely up, we traveled back in time.
Like wayyyyy back.
1800's back.
Baton Rouge has a little hidden secret that many don't know about.
It's a little over 400 acres of Louisiana past.
This place is called the "Rural Life Museum".
Last year we brought our youngest for the first time to their Harvest Days.
It was then, that she knew she wanted to join the fun.
The small "village" reenacts the golden days.
1000's come out to visit every year and it's so worth every second.

Fast forward a year and here we are back in the 1800's.
She is on the left in the blue.
Too cute!

While she was doing what she does best, Marc and I walked the grounds.

We sat on front porches and waved at neighbors as they walked past.

We wondered what it would be like living in days of old.

I won't lie... I kinda wish we did some days.
With this sweet guy below, I could live anywhere!

We could grow gardens together.

Sip sweet tea together.

And plan harvest days just like these.
Oh what fun!

But then reality kicked in.
I stood in that tiny smoke filled cabin and watch the ladies demonstrate their cooking skills.

I quickly longed for my new range and dove right back in time.
But then again....the food they prepared was awesome!

Returning back to reality, we walked across the field and found our sweet girl sharing how to make corn husk dolls.

My heart grew a little.

It was like watching a "love comes softly" episode on the "Hallmark" channel.
Here she is sharing how teachers and students had school.

I peeped in through the window...busted.. lol
