Poolside Fun

Well I’ll say this much…it’s not easy coming back into another work week after having such a fabulous weekend. Why can’t weekends be, like, 5 days long and work weeks be two? That’s not asking so much, right?

I honestly didn’t take too many pictures over the weekend, and I barely touched my computer which was a nice change of pace for me. I tend to try to do a lot of blog work on weekends, but this was definitely a weekend to be spending most of my time outside, with family. Friday and Saturday were pretty chill; we stayed overnight at my parents’ house on Saturday so that we could be there first thing on Sunday to enjoy a full pool day. It was such a beautiful day, and perfect pool weather!

Shortly after Lucas went down for his nap (thankfully, since he decided to totally skip it on Saturday…ay yi yi), Jay and I went over to our new house to check in on a few things and take some pictures of the electrical work (I’ll share some more below!). Once we finished up there, we came back to my parents’ house and joined them in the pool for some “quiet time” before the little man woke up.

We enjoyed some leftover pizza from our dinner on Saturday night for an easy lunch, which totally hit the spot.

Who doesn’t love pizza while swimming?

A couple of hours later, Lucas woke up and came out to join us!

I really had no idea how he’d be with the pool this year, since he was pretty afraid of it last year, and basically clung to us anytime we held him in there. So we started off slow by having him sit on the steps and eat some lunch.

And then we got him suited up in his new tube which he, surprisingly, had no qualms about wearing (I thought for sure he’d try to rip it right off). He actually thought it was pretty cool, as you can tell.

It wasn’t long before we had him jumping in from the side to be caught, and he was having an absolute BLAST kicking around and swimming from one of us to the other. We got a super short clip of it, but you can see just how much fun he was having.

He just lights up my world. <3

A little while later, my brother and his dog Binx came by, and we all hung out by the pool for a little while longer until it was time for dinner.

Nice and casual, hot dogs from the grill and corn on the cob.

And Lucas was, of course, in his glory with all the corn.

Such a fun day!

And as for the house, things are going great! This past week they finished up all of the electrical and plumbing work, and this coming week they’ll insulate and then start sheet rocking.

I feel like once the walls are up, then things will really start to feel more real.

I’ll tell ya…even when I walk through the house, it still hasn’t really sunk in that, oh yeah…this is OUR house. We’re going to be living here.

So surreal!

Well, that’s about from our weekend! Sad to see it go, but hey, such is life. Time to make the most of a new work week, right?

What’s on tap for the week ahead for everyone? Anything fun you’re looking forward to?
