Lots of Ninja Turtle goodness is happening at my house. My little guy is turning 5 in just a few short weeks. I'm not generally super emotional but I can feel the tears welling up with this big milestone!
For his birthday party, he wanted a Ninja Turtle themed party. Besides Lego's, TMNT are his favorite toy/TV show right now. I'm adding a few personal homemade touches to the party, including this Ninja Turtle Wreath!
Isn't it adorable? I love love love working with felt and believe that I cannot have too many wreaths or garland going on in my house. And I'm all about reusing items. So, this wreath is actually made from the base of my
Pumpkin Wreath. That's been one of my all time favorite wreaths but I've used it for a couple of years and didn't have time to get to the stores so thought I'd just recycle it.
What you need to make your own "wreath" is felt, scissors, styrofoam or cardboard and either push pins or hot glue depending on what you chose for your base. Cut out a bunch of 2 inch circles. I made the white and black (for the eyes) a bit smaller, maybe 1 inch. Fold your circle in half, then in half again and take a push pin and stick it into the styrofoam. If you're using cardboard, then use hot glue to glue it down (see my
Felt Easter Egg Wreath for those more detailed instructions).
Just do this over and over and over. :-) This probably took me an hour to do. I sat on my son's floor while he played Lego's.
Raphael is my son's favorite ninja turtle. Do your kids have a favorite?
