31 Days of Facebook Posts

As I type this, August is one week away.

Holy crap, where does the time go?

For me, the most exciting thing about a new month is the chance to set a few new goals for my business and my clients.

In August, I’m inviting you to set a goal for your brand or blog: be more engaging on Facebook.

So many times our default move is to copy and paste a link to a news article and call it a day. I’m guilty of this, too.

But time and time again, Facebook insights show that fans engage far more with original content—the kind you create yourself surrounding your brand. That kind of content isn’t always easy to come up with.

That’s why I’ve come up with 31 Facebook post ideas, one for every day in August (or any month!). Use this as a roadmap when you log on to post to your brand’s Facebook page each day, and by the end of the month I guarantee you’ll see an uptick in your engagement.

Day 1: My morning routine

What does an average morning look like in your world? Do you grab your favorite latte? Hold a powwow with your team? Hop on a conference call?

Day 2: Meet the founder

Snap a headshot of your company’s founder (or a selfie if it’s you!) and tell us a little more about the guy or gal that built your brand.

Day 3: Fill in the blank

Give your audience a simple, engaging one-liner to complete related to what you do. For example, mine might be:

“Fill in the blank: my biggest marketing challenge is _______.”

Day 4: Our mission

What makes your brand tick? Whether you work to feed hungry children or sell scented doggie shampoo, you have a mission that’s uniquely yours. Let your followers in on it.

Day 5: Around the office

Share a snapshot of the space where you spend 40 (or 50, or 60…) hours per week.

Day 6: Share the love

Tag another small business you admire or a client you love to work with, then spin off a few sentences about what makes them so great.

Day 7: Our bestseller

Show off your most popular product or service package. Why do your clients love it so much?

Day 8: Monday motivation

Share a quote that motivates you to show up to work every day. Bonus points if you use Canva to turn it into a pretty graphic!

Day 9: Office mascot

Facebook loves animal posts!

Does your dog have the office wrapped around his finger? Maybe there’s a funny squirrel that’s always camped out in your office park. Snap a photo and share their story.

Here’s mine, by the way. A big goofy rescue named Bo

Day 10: Giving back

One of the most rewarding parts about being a business owner is the ability to make a difference in your community.

Share a photo from a team service project, a headshot of your college intern or a cause you hold near and dear.

Day 11: TBT

Also known as Throwback Thursday. Reveal a photo from your past—silly, crazy or compelling.

Day 12: Positive feedback

Nothing beats a great word-of-mouth referral! Share a positive review you recently received from a customer.

Day 13: #Goals

What are your goals as a brand for the next month? The next year?

Your brand feels human and your audience feels closer to you when you share with them the ambitions you’re working toward.

Day 14: Our process

What’s your process for bringing a new client onboard? What systems do you have in place to ensure excellent customer service? Explain your “process” and how it sets you apart from the competition.

Day 15: Team snapshot

Round up your team for a photo opp. If you’re feeling really ambitious, plan your outfits in advance to match or have everyone bring a prop to use in the shot.

Day 16: Our hero

Who do you admire? Which businessmen and women inspire you? Share a picture and a few lines about how they drive you to do better each day.

Day 17: Snack time

I don’t know why, but I’m always fascinated to see what everyone else munches on while they’re working on a tight deadline or trying to get their creative juices flowing.

Show followers your favorite snack time indulgence.

Day 18: Today I learned…

Maybe it’s a little-known fact about your field. Maybe it’s a secret hack for doing your job better. Share something new you learned today.

Day 19: What we believe in

What do you as a brand hold near and dear? Creativity? Attention to detail? The best slice of pepperoni pizza in the neighborhood?

Share the values that make you tick—or better yet, a video of you explaining them.

Day 20: Coffee talk

Milk or cream? Flavored or plan? Starbucks or Dunkin’? Spill your java preferences and invite fans to share theirs.

Day 21: Ask the audience

Invite your followers to answer a customer question or vote for their favorite option. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

“When shopping for (your product), would you rather pay more for faster shipping or get free shipping and wait a few more days for delivery?”

“We’re picking a name for (your new service package)! Which do you like best: A or B?”

Day 22: LOL

Laughter is the best medicine, and on social media it’s also the easiest way to make a lifelong fan.

Share something that has you laughing, be it a funny article, photo or meme.

Day 23: Lunch break

Where do you go to take a midday break? Is there a great café down the street that could use a shoutout? Show us how you spend your lunch break.

Day 24: Fan photo

Fan-submitted content is the best! Not only does it build trust in your brand, but everyone loves to see themselves in the spotlight! Share a photo and short caption about one of your happy customers.

Day 25: How we got started

Take us back to where it all began and tell us how and when your brand was launched. If you have an old photo, be sure to include it.

Day 26: Insider tip

What enticing nugget of knowledge would people be shocked or intrigued to learn about your field?

Day 27: Share a prediction

What do you see on the horizon for your field for the next six months? Tell followers about a trend you’re keeping an eye on or a shift you expect to see.

Day 28: Breaking news

I had to throw in one day where you’re allowed to share a news link. Find a relevant story about your field and share away!

Day 29: Freebie giveaway

Pick a lucky winner to receive your product or service for free—just because, no strings attached.

Okay, there’s one string: they have to let you share their photo!

Day 30: Behind the scenes

Are you preparing for a conference or setting up for a sale? Show us the getting-ready process.

Day 31: Coming soon…

Would you look at that? Another month has come and gone.

End on a high note by giving your fans a sneak peek of what’s on the horizon for the month ahead.
