Note: Laying flat your finished hat will measure approximately 8.5 inches wide x 9 inches top to bottom. Pom pom: Make a 4 inch pom pom. Wrap yarn around the center of a piece of cardboard that is 4 inches square about 80 times. Cut yarn and carefully slide the wrapped yarn off of the cardboard. Cut a long end of yarn, about 18 inches. This long end of yarn will be used to tie the pom pom and to attach the pom pom to the beanie. Tie the long end of yarn around the center of the wrapped yarn and secure with a knot. Cut the wrapped yarn open at each end and trim. Do not trim ties.
Finishing: Attach pom pom to the top of the beanie. Thread one long end of yarn onto your tapestry needle and stitch through to the inside of the beanie by pushing through just to the left of the top center of the beanie. Thread the other long end of yarn onto your tapestry needle and stitch through to the inside of the beanie by pushing through just to the right of the top center of the beanie. Tie the two ends together on the inside of the beanie and secure with a knot. Weave in ends.
