Dermalogica PreCleanse

I almost always precleanse my face before washing. It helps to break up and remove any makeup, dirt, oil, and debris from the day that my cleanser alone can't do. It also preps my skin so my cleanser can go in and do what it needs to do.
I have mentioned before how much I love cleaning oils for this exact purpose. I have been using them for a while now and find them so easy to use and, along with my regular cleanser, really gives me a deep down clean.

I recently received two products from Dermalogica that each one alone acts as the first step of what Dermoalogica calls the "double cleanse regime." The Dermalogica precleanse set contains both the precleanse and precleanse wipes.

The precleanse is described as a "deep-cleansing oil that melts away layers of excess sebum (oil), sunscreen, waterproof make-up, pollutants and products that build up on skin, allowing your cleanser to penetrate even further for professional cleansing results."
You apply it to dry skin, then wet your hands and start working in the oil, creating a milky emulsion that rinses makeup and debris and so forth from your skin. Like most cleansing oils, I personally apply before going into the shower at night then while in the shower I use my wet hands to work into my face then rinse before washing with my regular cleanser.
I have tried a number of different oils in the past, both high end and drugstore. This is probably one of the better ones I have used. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and rinses really well with no residue. I would definitely purchase when I am done with the trial size I received.

The precleanse wipes are just a travel friendly form of the precleanse in a convenient wipe form. You follow a similar method, applying to a dry skin and then rinsing before washing with your regular cleanser.
I should first start by saying that I do not typically like cleansing wipes. I usually keep a certain brand on standby for emergencies, but I don't really like using a wipe nor do I find them that effective in general. With that said, these were no exception to that. I followed the instructions and even tried to wet the wipe slightly to create that milky emulsion, and they just did nothing for me. Like most wipes, they can be convenient while traveling or to throw in your gym bag, but I don't feel the results are anything compared to a cleansing oil. While good in a pinch if I have no other options, I would not consider my skin "precleansed" using these.
The precleanse oil was a huge win for me. I have been raving about the Julep Bare Skin oil for some time, and I almost want to say Dermalogica's oil is even better than Juleps. The wipes on the other hand, are just not my thing. Not because of the formula but just because I don't like cleansing wipes in general and these did nothing to change that. The oil is definitely something to check out!
