LONG LAYERS FOR SHORT DAYS

I don’t mind the cold, but so far my only experience with real cold was when I hit the slopes in my ski-outfit. However when you’re in a city with temperatures of -12 degrees Celsius, it’s different. How does one dress? I have no clue yet, so I only got as far as a parka and a pair of Sorel boots. Not really making a fashion statement there… How are we doing that during New York Fashion Week – I’m slowly starting to prepare mentally for this event in early Feb…

The long layers in this look are definitely warm, but not doing it for the above mentioned temperature. Sad, because if there’s one thing I love, it’s the oversized knit and skirt combination. But as much as I love my oversized parka, that’s not a solution for this look. I would go for short/cropped puffy jacket, to add some volume on top, and a big knitted scarf wrapped around half my of my head – to make sure my ears survive another day! Or maybe draping a beautifully long coat on my shoulders…

Who’s experienced dressing fashionable with these freezing temperatures? Should I start buying thermal underwear? What’s you secret to being fashionable in the unbearable cold?

Supertrash skirt // Whistles cashmere jumper // Alexander Wang boots (these are from a few seasons back, but you can get similar ones here and here) // Radley London mini cross-body bag // Zara faux fur scarf (similar here) // Celine sunglasses.
