OK, so you probably think I've lost my mind ... Yes, I know they are Zig Clean Color Markers....More on that in a minute. Here is today's card.
If you follow Laura Bassen you know that she refers to these as Ziggy Ziggy Ziggy markers... and since I want to be just like Laura.... Ha! I haven't really played with mine and I wanted to do that with this stamp set since she made an awesome card with these recently. I have seen Stephanie Klauck use silver embossing powder with her watercolor images and I never do. I tend to use white embossing or black ink. So I thought I'd give it a try. I love the look. Thank you Stephanie for the inspiration!
To make the card front I heat embossed the images with silver embossing powder. I stamped the big flower and heat embossed it, then I masked that off to do the smaller flowers, then I masked them to do the leaves. Is it perfect? Um... no. But watercolor isn't either so I went with it. Then I put down a little color with the markers and then used a waterbrush to move the color around. I put some of the color down pretty heavy so I had to vibrant colors on my flowers. I have seen various ways of using these markers but this was pretty easy to do.
Once I finished the card front I decided to cut the panel in half. All of those flowers done in such vibrant colors just seemed busy to me. And often when I have a busy background or one that took a while to create I like to get two cards out of it. I mounted the card front on a white 4-bar card size.
I heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock with white embossing powder. I used some foam tape to add some dimension. Then I added some sequins - because Laura does (hee!).
