In what Chad Wys coins as an “interrogation of art”, he reinvents classic styles of art with a contemporary mindset. Wys challenges what we think of as “art” by deconstructing pastoral landscapes, antiquated portraits, and smiling porcelain statues and adding splashes of paint, words, and color. In his series titled “Arrangement in Skintones”, Wys places symmetrical dots on blurred close-ups of classic portraits. His use of metallic and pastel colors is all kinds of amazing, and we’re obsessed with how he seamlessly combines his point of view and conventionally beautiful artwork. If you couldn’t tell already, we’re pretty much obsessed. See more of his art on his website.
