Cruelty Free Beauty Part 1: Make-Up

Today I'm starting a new series about cruelty free beauty. If you've been a reader of this site for a while you will have likely noticed that all the recipes I share are vegetarian or vegan. At the beginning of this year I decided that I wanted to phase out products that are tested on animals from my beauty routine. Throughout this series I will be sharing the products I use now that are cruelty-free. A great resource to find out which companies test on animals is PETA. They have an excellent search engine that is updated regularly.

1. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

2. The Body Shop All In One Face Base in Shade 02

3. Smashbox Blush Rush in Radiance

4. Sephora Collection Primal Instincts Eyeshadow Palette

5. Sephora Collection Eyebrow Editor Complete Brow Kit in Medium Brown

6. Josie Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara

7. Eyelash curler, blush brush, round eyeshadow brush, and angled eyeshadow brush.

NOT PICTURED: The Body Shop Liquid Eyeliner in Black

I always apply moisturizer with UV protection before putting on my make-up. Most days I just wear foundation, blush, and mascara. I'm usually pretty lazy in the mornings and like to spend as little time as possible putting on make-up without looking like crap. Before I started using The Body Shop foundation I was using liquid foundation. I much prefer powder because I don't feel like I'm wearing make-up. I bought the Smashbox products recently using drugstore points. Smashbox itself is listed as not testing on animals via PETA however, their parent company Estee Lauder does. I love The Body Shop because the company advocates for animals. All of their products are cruelty free and awesome. Josie Maran is a new favourite of mine. I'll being sharing more products from that line in this series. If I'm going out I usually add some eyeshadow and a cat eye with liquid eyeliner and throw on some primer before my foundation. I like the eyeshadow palette because everything is in one place. Sometimes I even do my eyebrows but that's pretty rare. I'm pretty low maintenance these days.
