Valentino Pre-Fall 2015 | The Collection of Dreams

Every few years or so, a collection comes around that literally takes my breath away. I've been stuck in a Saint Laurent bubble ever since Hedi Slimane took the reigns - that ain't changing anytime soon - but I felt compelled to share this absolute gem of a collection with you all from Valentino for Pre-Fall. The last time a collection nearly brought me to the brink of tears (yes, really) was Dolce & Gabbana's baroque-heaven for Autumn-Winter 2012. I thought I had never seen such a beautiful sight in my fashion life, until this..
Celia Birtwell, a British textile designer and Giosetta Fiorini, an Italian pop artist, collaborated with the brains behind Valentino (Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli) for these wonders. To say there's something there for everyone, would be an understatement. Leopard-print? Check. Bohemian dresses? Check. Knee-high boots covered in planets and stars? Check. Wednesday Addams' worthy dresses? Check. (Very important.)
It's a brilliant balance of retro nostalgia and modernity and it's by far one of the greatest collections I have seen in years. It'll be interesting to see the high streets' take on it, especially the galactic prints for Autumn-Winter. All I know now is that a wizard-worthy cape is on my wishlist..
