Red Wine Hot Chocolate

Once in a blue moon, we stumble upon a discovery that feels like nothing short of pure serendipity. And speaking of hot chocolate (see what we did there?), today’s recipe is giving us all the warm and fuzzy feelings. Combining two of every lady’s classic loves, wine and chocolate, this remarkably easy yet decadent dessert has been the talk of the town this season, even earning its own feature in The New York Times. Take our recipe today as a guideline for you to explore just the right combination for your own taste buds. Add an orange peel, throw in some vanilla, or substitute with coconut milk; your imagination is the limit. It may be new, but hey, it’s 2017!

Ingredients

Directions

1. In a saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer. Add chocolate bars, stirring occasionally.
2. In a separate saucepan, add wine, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and ancho chile powder. Simmer for at least 10 minutes.
3. Combine the hot chocolate and mulled wine. Add marshmallows, and enjoy! How easy is that, right?
