PRAKTIK BAKERY

A photo review about the Praktik Bakery in Barcelona, plus some tips on what to do and where to eat!

| October 29, 2014

It's been raining a lot since the the day I got back from Spain (typical Dutch-weather situation of course) and it makes me missing the mediterranean climate so so much. I wish I could've stayed a little bit longer in Barcelona!

I spent the entire city break at Praktik Hotels ; an awesome hotel chain based in Barcelona and Madrid, with a great design, location and price! I've read a lot of good reviews about it so of course I had to try it out myself.

Praktik Bakery was the first one were we stayed. We had this cute room at the front of the building with a french balcony as I requested (I have that weird thing for pretty balconies). It might be a little bit small, but it was super clean, well designed and basically had everything you need. I don't recommend it for couples or BFF's who drag like 3 suitcases each with them, as there probably won't be enough space to store it up.

Have I already told you about the best thing in the hotel yet? No? Well, as their name already says, there is a bakery located on the ground floor, which is a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y amazing. They have all kinds fresh baked breads and pastries, you can even see how they make it as most of the walls are from glass! The hotel offer a breakfast buffet for just € 7 euro's, but you rather go grab something from the bakery. I could've ate 20 of the salami bread rolls (€ 2,50 each), seriously, it's that good. With a soft spot for good food, the bakery is really the best thing. Second best thing should be the all-white room, such a yay for my Instagram photos!

What to do?
- Sagrada Familia : If it's your first time in Barcelona, this should be on top of your to-do list. It's just a 10 minutes walk from the Bakery! I recommend you to go a little bit early to avoid the tourist crowd.
- Passeig de Gracia : The 'luxury' shopping street from Barcelona. Here you'll find designer houses as Chanel, Saint Laurent and Hermès, but also other high street shops like Zara and Mango. Definitely worth a stroll! (1 minute from Bakery)
- Casa Mila : It was not op top of my list to be honest, but located just next to the hotel (100 steps from Bakery) I couldn't say no!

Where to eat?
- Bambarol : A small restaurant with the most delicious catalan tapas we had during our stay in Barcelona. We had to walk a little bit longer than expected (15 minutes) but it was so worth it. We could've taken a cab back home, but we decided to burn some calories and enjoy the evening views of Barcelona. Reservation recommended!
- Cornelia & Co : Lovely space with a industrial design where you can enjoy some drinks and small tapas. Perfect for a lunch break and just behind the Passeig de Gracia. (7 minutes from Bakery)
- Boca Grande : The seafood heaven. The restaurant has a great ambiance and decor. It was my second time there (I went there last year with Mango!) and I loved it. Don't like fish? Try their beef with patatas bravas. Excellent! (5 minutes from Bakery)
