Q: How did you get into fashion?

I knew from a young age I wanted to be in fashion and people always made a judgment on my fashion whether good or bad as it stood out. After finding out about the fantastic degree at the University of Brighton with an experience year and business studies built in I went full on for my career. I trained in printed textiles and designed in New York which I loved, however it was there I really fell in love with styling. After graduating I started freelance styling and built my contacts and knowledge from there.

Q: How have the last 12 months been for you?

A whirlwind! I went from part time styling and working full time in corporate events and production to a full time stylist with a studio. This time last year I was working on National Roadshows to bring in money and small-scale shoots for my fashion. This year I did full production for an On Schedule London Fashion Week Runway for fabulous designer Haizhen Wang and an International Designer Showcase event with bloody Gray held at Somerset House. I also made my solo production and styling debut holding an event just after SS13 LFW last year in October which was a great success.

Q. What inspired you to start working in the fashion industry?

I love colour, being creative and individualistic. I love fabric and felt I had a keen eye to pick out pieces that others couldn’t in the shops.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration?

All over the place! There is no box and it is best to think outside it. My travels, favourite designers, creative editorials, theatre and exhibitions all greatly influence me.

Q: Which modern day fashion designers or fashion icons do you look up to?

From a young age I idolized Zandra Rhodes and Vivienne Westwood for their outrageousness to be different with no bounds in colour, media and pattern. I was also a massive fan of Alexander McQueen and continue to like the brand with designer Sarah Burton. Further afield I love Betsey Johnson and DVF!

Q: Who is your favourite photographer?

I like the works of Tim Walker who has a real imaginative child at heart. The props, composition, theming and setting of his photographs are wonderful. I also like the fact he is very vocal in directing when shooting which I think is essential to get the best shot and connect with the models or subject involved.

Q: Is there anybody you would like to work with?

I would love to work with many people, ultimately my relationships with my creatives and designers are most important to me. A great vibe on set and a team that is willing to go the extra mile to get that shot is what I look for. I work with a lot of emerging designers that are amazingly talented and hope to continue working with them on their journey. I will always work with emerging designers, as I believe they are key to understanding the future of fashion and helping them grow on their journey. I also feel like this allows me to give back to the industry. Big names I would love to work with Nick Knight & ELLE.

Q Who are your ‘Ones To Watch?’

Ones to support & watch that I love are Haizhen Wang, James Hock, Jane Bowler & Barbara Allan -- all individual in their own right at cutting edge fashion.

Q: What does fashion mean to you?

It is what I have fun with, it is what I live in but I try not to take it too seriously. I do a job I love that I have worked hard for. The world of fashion often crosses with my personal life as no hour is off limits but I make sure I have other interests and social groups to keep me well balanced. This also helps with inspirations.

Q: How would you define your personal style?

Eclectic, a chameleon – sometimes I am outrageous and other times I am casual and understated. My style is not perfect and it’s not meant to be, it’s just me. I would say a favourite is a boho rock chic – think casual locks, long skirts and leather. I love my vintage pieces.

Q: Where are you based?

I am from and based in Brentwood, Essex but I commute to London every day. I have a studio at London Bridge where I prep for shoots and manage admin. I am currently working with Bloody Gray on production for the new season press days.

Q: What’s been the highlight of your career to date?

Catwalk Production, Press & backstage management for Haizhen Wang with Bloody Gray. It was very exciting and a great success. My event last year was also a great success and launched my name into the industry. It was a real challenge that was very demanding but the results in attendance, styling, production and post media was very rewarding, which made me very proud.

Q: What are you hoping to achieve over the next 12 months?

This time next year I hope to have produced further runway shows, travelled internationally for styling and hold a fashion job at a top monthly editorial. I have high hopes and dreams and I don’t know the specific journey but I believe I will get there and achieve them.

Q: What do you do to relax?

I love a good film whether at home, at the cinema or at a pop up rooftop or drive through. I love the drama, the costumes and the emotion in a film. I also like to stay fit with dance, running and Pilates.

Q: Where would your favourite holiday (vacation) be and why?

My ideal vacation would be a combination of beach, adventure and culture – I think Thailand is great for this although I do like to try new places. I would love to visit Egypt and India.

Q: What songs are you listening to at the moment?

I love up beat songs – especially first thing in the morning. Right now I am loving New York City indie rock band Fun. I also love Two Door Cinema Club, Haim, Everything Everything, Rhye & Tom Odell. All time favourites Daft Punk & Justice.

Q: Do you have interesting hobbies?

I love to sing and dance. I love to attend many festivals and become a real music and camping head getting involved with everything I can. I also like to write lyrics.

Q: If you could give a little piece of advice for people wanting to work in the fashion industry what would it be?

If you want to do it, do it, no matter the sacrifice. I’m a believer of if you really go for it you will be successful. Follow the success and don’t get confused by others around you, stay focused. My friends and family have been very supportive of my career situations and choices and I would not be doing what I am today without them.

Q: How can you see your work in fashion developing into the future?

I aim to develop my styling on an international level and want to become an editor of a top monthly fashion magazine.

Q: What motivates you to do what you do?

It sounds cheesy but life. You only get one and I think you should aim high and give it your all. Ultimately fashion makes me happy.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to let our readers know about?

Social Media is a real key to helping you along the road to success. Make it personal, committed and have fun with it.
