Morning + Night Vegan Skincare Routine Featuring Maelove

Hi babes! I've been asked a lot lately to share my skincare routine. I've hesitated to share because I'm always making small tweaks to it. Also we're all so different when it comes to what our skin needs so I'll start there.

My skin tends to lean more to the dry side and I'll get flaky patches if I'm not exfoliating and moisturizing regularly. I also have sensitive skin so I'll get redness and maybe a pimple or two if I try a new product that is either too harsh or has an ingredient in it that doesn't agree with me. For those reasons, my skincare routine focuses on moisturizing and using products with more gentle, yet effective, ingredients.

Morning Vegan Skincare Routine

Gentle Cleanser - Juara Rice Facial Cleanser

I start my day by gently cleansing my skin. Some mornings I use a liquid cleanser with water like this one by Juara and other days I use Velvet Report Micellar Water. My goal for this cleanse is to remove excess oils and any heavy nighttime masks without stripping too much oil from my skin.

Vitamin C - Maelove The Glow Maker Antioxidant Serum

Next up with my skin still a little bit moist from cleansing, I apply approximately 5 drop of Vitamin C serum by applying it to my hands and patting it in gently. What I love about this one from Maelove is that it is incredibly gentle yet effective. It includes Vitamins C, E, Ferulic Acid, and Hyaluronic Acid, so I feel like I'm getting the best of all worlds when I apply this.

Eye Serum - Maelove The Eye Enhancer

On top of the serum, I pat in eye serum or cream around each eye, focusing on the outer part where crows feet tend to form. This eye treatment by Maelove focuses on treating dryness and wrinkles, my two biggest concerns. It also has coffee seed extract in it which helps with puffiness and really wakes you up in the morning.

Day Cream - Maelove The One Cream

Then I put several dabs of moisturizer on my face and slowly rub them in, making sure not to miss a spot. I should note here that I put the Vitamin C serum and Day Cream on my neck as well. The One Cream is a bit on the thicker side so I make sure that it is fully absorbed before continuing with my routine. The cream creates a nourishing barrier to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. It also contains prebiotics. Yay for healthy bacteria!

Sunscreen - Cleure SPF 40 Mineral Sunscreen

Of course no AM skincare routine would be complete without SPF. My current SPF of choice comes from Cleure. It's a mineral sunscreen (which I prefer) that works well under makeup. Again, I wait a couple of minutes to let it absorb before continuing with my routine to avoid any makeup pilling up later on.

Lip Balm - Thrive Causemetics Liquid Balm Lip Treatment

Lastly I apply lip balm all over my lips. I've been enjoying the new liquid balm from Thrive because it's so easy to apply and it feels like a balm-gloss hybrid. I should have noted earlier that I also apply The One Cream (pre-lip balm) to my lips. That's a trick that I learned from Bobbi Brown since she says that lip balms don't actually moisturize your lips, they just trap in moisture that's already there.

Night Vegan Skincare Routine

Oil Cleanser - Glossier Milky Oil Cleanser

First things first, I use an oil cleanser to remove my makeup. Sometimes I use a liquid like this one from Glossier and other times I use a balm. Oil cleansers are especially good at gently removing eye makeup.

Gentle Cleanser - Juara Rice Facial Cleanser

Then I follow up with my gentle cleanser with water to remove any leftover makeup and also clean any excess oil and dirt off my skin. When I'm done with this step, my skin feels clean and slightly wet, but not tight and dry (this part is important, especially for those of us with dry skin).

Eye Serum - Maelove The Eye Enhancer

This is the same eye serum as my morning routine. At this point I don't feel like I need a heavier eye cream for night.

Night Cream - Maelove The Night Renewer

Here's where the exfoliation part of my routine comes in. I use this 10% glycolic acid cream two to three nights a week and it does wonders for my skin. It improves my skin texture (bye bye dry flakes!) and does a great job of overall resurfacing my skin. It also has hyaluronic acid in it so it doesn't dry me out. On the nights when I'm not using this, I use The One Cream instead since it is thick enough to use as a nighttime cream.

Facial Oil - Maelove Love 31 Face Oil

Something new and very luxurious to my routine is this facial oil infused with 31 botanical extracts and vitamins. It's the last step in my night routine since it's the thickest of the products. Your skincare should always be applied thinnest (think serums) to thickest (moisturizers followed by oils). The oil holds everything in so that all those lovely active ingredients don't immediately evaporate while you are sleeping, giving them time to work on your skin. Bonus: The rose scent of this oil relaxes me before bed.

Lip Balm - Thrive Causemetics Liquid Balm Lip Treatment

I finish my routine with this fun liquid lip balm and I'm ready for bed. I sleep on a satin pillowcase which is good for your hair and skin (less wrinkles). I know that silk pillowcases are all the rage right now, but a satin version is a good vegan alternative.

Let me know if you have any questions about my skincare routine. Also, I would love to hear about yours in the comments section :)
